Holiday Hits from our Furry Friends: starring Bailey and Hula Cats…

Courtesy of  baileyandfriends, please spread this one around…

Hi folks. Thank you for all your warm comments and here are some answers to your questions: I shot this video on VHS-C in my backyard, near Ward, Colorado (8,700′ elevation) during a blizzard in the late 1990’s; a local weatherman said it was the most measureable snow (if memory serves, it was 54″ in 48 hours) from the least amount of moisture ever. Cheers to dogs, and to all those that love them! Please be well and Happy Holidays!!!

PEBO on Clean Coal; top science adviser…Economic Team raises jobs/stimulus number…

Has anyone else seen this commercial the coal companies produced? It is FABULOUS! It hoists PEBO way high in the air, showing him campaigning in coal states for CLEAN COAL, and guaranteeing CLEAN COAL technology. Yep, thank Gawd. If it keeps him from sending our electricity production costs sky high by completely ending coal fueled electricity, then I am happy. Green energy- yes all for it! Ending coal production when we aren’t ‘there’ yet with green technology and a new grid? Uhmm, no not so much…. I hope they keep running this ad….

Via balancedenergy’s channel: This TV ad uses Barack Obamas own words to punctuate the fact that investing in clean coal technologies promotes energy independence, creates jobs, and ensures sustained environmental progress including the ability to capture and store CO2 in response to climate change concerns. The footage used in the ad comes from a campaign rally in Lebanon, Va., held during October 2008.

This is KEY peeps. PEBO has selected his ‘science’ panel and announced them in his address yesterday. Big big focus on climate control:

From Reuters:

…(PEBO) underscored on Saturday his intent to push initiatives on climate change by naming John Holdren, an energy and climate specialist, as the new White House science adviser.

Holdren is a Harvard University physicist who has focused on the causes and consequences of climate change and advocated policies aimed at sustainable development. He has also done extensive research on the dangers of nuclear weapons…(MiM here, wonder how Gates is planning to present the missile shield to PEBO..)

Here is IMHO EXCELLENT news:

…Obama also named two people to work with Holdren to lead the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, also known as PCAST…

The other is Harold Varmus, a former director of the National Institutes of Health who won a Nobel Prize for his studies on cancer and genetics. For the past nine years, Varmus has served as president and chief executive officer of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York…

Anything we can do to end cancer, any amount of money, any amount of time and energy, just do it, Do it NOW. As a former NIH Director I am hopeful Varmer will PUSH HARD for INCREASED FUNDING and perhaps even implement Hillary’s plans for the eradication of breast cancer. FUND THIS SCIENCE NOW.

Stimulus Update: PEBO after meeting with his team of economic advisers last week is rumored to have upped the projected stimulus package to a whopping 850 billion to 1 trillion dollars. Politico reports:

Obama transition officials has been consulting Capitol Hill about the stimulus package since Wednesday. The president-elect’s aides are contemplating a package of $675 billion to $775 billion over two years, and have acknowledged it could grow to $850 billion in the legislative process. While huge at a time when the nation is running a record budget deficit, that is still slightly more conservative than the $1 trillion advocated by some economists.

The Obama team wants lawmakers to start working on the stimulus package when the new Congress convenes at the beginning of January, and want it to be ready for Obama to sign as soon after his Jan. 20 inauguration as possible.

PEBO is also upping the number of jobs he says he will create/save. Since the ‘save’ is part of this, IMHO it means absolutely nothing… you cannot prove you have ‘saved’ a single job,  so this figure is to me meaningless, and look economists agree! From the Chicago Tribune:

…Some economists say Obama’s new job goals may be rooted in salesmanship. It is virtually impossible to quantify jobs saved, so the figures have little meaning, they said. By raising the ante to 3 million, Obama may have something else in mind: Persuading the public that a stimulus costing hundreds of billions of dollars is necessary.

Peter Morici, an economist and business professor at the University of Maryland, said in an interview Saturday that Obama’s revised job numbers are an exercise in political marketing.

“He’s trying to make the case for a huge stimulus package,” Morici said. “Every time you turn around, the numbers get bigger.”..

The Politico piece above does note the continued emphasis by Team PEBO on the specific areas the infrastructure portion of the package will target (with Combine/Caterpillar fan LaHood as Sec of Transportation, I would buy CAT shares on any dips, heh):

..Obama said earlier this month that the infrastructure part of his plan has five keys: making public buildings more energy-efficient; creating millions of jobs by investing in roads and bridges; modernizing and upgrade school buildings; expanding access to high-speed Internet; and making progress toward access to electronic medical records for all Americans..

Sounds like Hillary’s plan to me, of course they all do :0). Cause, you know they are, heh. Whatever it takes, as Cramer X said.

PS Memo to Tom Daschle, I do NOT want my medical records on a Db someplace…too easy for the insurance carriers to start scoring and hiking premiums, UNLESS we get our Universal mandate in FIRST…..
