True Blood season two returned less than a year after season one began and has only been airing for a little more than a month, but it’s doing so well that HBO executives announced today that they have already picked up season three and that the plan is to return again in June 2010.

“I think one of the reasons we brought it back as soon as we did is we always felt it felt like a summer show,” said Michael Lombardo, president, programming group and west coast operations, in a press conference today in Pasadena, Calif., at the Television Critics Association summer press tour. “So the hope is to bring it back next summer.”

…HBO co-president Richard Plepler added that high ratings gave them the confidence to renew the show again. “The size of these shows has really broken through into the popular culture in a way we haven’t seen before,” Plepler said.

The executives were cagier about specific details on upcoming episodes. As fans await Evan Rachel Wood’s debut as the lesbian Vampire Queen of Louisiana, Lombardo only confirmed his own satisfaction with her footage.

“It totally delivers,” Lombardo said…

William Castle

William Castle

Here are two more entries into the recent slew of horror YARMs…I’ve been critical of the movement for the most part, with the exception of the William Castle films, especially after the borefest that was the F13 remake..but they are starting to grow on me at this point…

Film, perhaps above all other art forms – lends itself to the disturbance of the viewer to incite emotion as a form of artistic expression, and Zombie has this talent in spades. It is likely why I hated the Halloween remake, it is undistilled -horror- in its essence I suppose, it sure as hell horrified me..but it wasn’t an enjoyable experience, which is for me essential in a film…

The John Carpenter film does not disturb me the way Rob Zombie’s vision does, which is probably what he intends. So for those who like to be shaken and pushed way out of their comfort zone there is the H2 coming up, and for the peeps who want old style slasher-suspense with new effects and an updated look we have the rest…hopefully Elm St will be FAR FAR better than the pathetic entry that was F13…..

Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Speaker knows: Pelosi finds the villain of the piece…

Dems miss the SELF-imposed August recess deadline on health care reform. Who, who can be to blame!? Not the Dem leadership, not TOTUS, but who? The Shadow Nancy knows, BWAAAAHAAAAAA Muhuuuuhaaaaaaaa!!!

Of course, they’ve been immoral all along,” she added. “They are the villains in this, they have been part of the problem in a major way. They are doing everything in their power to stop a public option from happening and the public has to know.. They have had a good thing going for a long time at the expense of the American people and the health of our country.”…

This is the opening of The Shadow, played by the legendary Orson Welles. This episode is “The Circle of Death”, which originally aired November 28, 1937. It’s only fitting that this is being played over my 1936 Zenith console radio you see. This was given to me by a friend, and I have restored it to working condition. Hope you enjoy it!
