They have signs and a flag, they arent breaking glass, they want to be heard it appears...

Updates from commenters on WTSP, seem to suggest the media is making this seem violent and it was not, we need the video…:

SEIU & Castor organize a townhall and announce it at the last minute as to reduce opposition voices. The townhall was packed 1/2 w SEIU people.

When supporters of healthcare freedom (ie, anti-BigGovHealth demonstrators) were prevented access to the townhall they began to shout, bang windows & doors.

another comment:

This article is complete b.s! The meeting ended early because Kathy Castor left early. “Ellen Gedalius, a Castor spokeswoman, said the Congresswoman left the meeting because she had accomplished what she came for.”

That’s why the meeting ended early. Not because of violence.

There are already many comments from people on that news site blaming El Rushbo. unreal.

To  recap:

the Team TOTUS line to our own elected officials when coming to see US at townhalls is “If you get hit, we will punch back twice as hard”,get in their faces”, AFLCIO chief said he was sending Labor out to confront people at townhalls, the WH website, Linda Douglass asked for people to REPORT their fellow citizens for their OPINIONS on health care

And the media has been helpfully spreading the Pelosi “swastika” Baird “brown shirt” Hell’s Grannies canard about Tea Party Patriots being thuggish yet overdressed, neonazi insurance executives when in reality they are reasoned individuals expressing their well informed opinions to their own elected officials…

Here is where we are going under Mr Unity Pony (cause Hill and Sarah were so polarizing)

10Connects WTSP Tampa News:

Angry protesters and strong supporters are clashing inside and all around a health care reform town hall meeting in Downtown Tampa.

The meeting which was scheduled to begin at 6:00 at the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County drew hundreds of people who quickly began to overwhelm staff and event organizers at the front entrance. As the building filled to capacity, angry protesters stuck outside began to scream, yell, and chant. At one point, those trying to get inside began banging on windows as Tampa Police officers quickly spread out guarding all entrances.

10 Connects photojournalist Kevin Carlson, currently inside the meeting reports at least one fist fight breaking out inside. Some other journalists remain outside.

Democratic Congresswoman Kathy Castor and State Representative Betty Reed were hosting the event.

UPDATE 7:13pm

Police on bullhorns are trying to break-up the crowd outside the building on 1002 E. Palm Ave.

Many in the crowd are refusing to go.

UPDATE 7:32pm

The forum has ended early.

ESSENTIAL READING!!! LIVE BLOG by Frank’s posterous after the break:

5:55 PM Doors opened   Ooops… first three rows of seating ALREADY filled with pro-government Healthcare pro-Obama supporters.  Also, signs posted in support of Govt Healthcare.  Chant of “Not Fair” fill the lobby. Lots of anger.
5:56 PM First public attendees, there since 3:30PM are angered, but try to enter.  Until one tries to bring in an anti-government healthcare sign.  Blocked at door by individuals apparently in charge of organization.  (More about them later)  CHANTS, verbal outrage voiced by the crowd of signed-in citizens.  Now numbering more than 200.
6:00 PM  Agreement reached that no signs allowed from either faction. (The hall belongs to the Hillsborough school district… apparently district or activity CEO, who was there,  gave the word to the “organizers” to back off…she was strong and smart )
6:05 PM… The rest of the seats filled…    other citizens (aprox) 100 line the walls.  So.. we are about 350 attending.   The attendees see that the “Program” for the meeting is clearly labeled as sponsored by SEIU…”Change that Works”
6:15 PM  State Rep Betty Reed  (a very nice person) asks the audience to be polite
6:17 PM  US Rep Kathy Castor begins a speech with hackneyed ploys such as asking all the veterans in the room to stand up and be recognized.
6:20 PM chants of “Read the Bill” begin in the back, surround the room, and drown out the Representative.
6:20 PM the noise from the waiting area.. from the citizens who could not enter the hall.. overwhelms the Representative.  Very serious looking “organizers” close the entry door.  Citizens pound on the door and demand its opening.  This side drama oscillates the rest of the time… various “organizers” versus the folks left in the hallway.
6:25 PM some pushing and shoving starts to take place between rows three and row four in the hall.  A Tampa police officer does a masterful and low-key job of quieting the offenders.  Super professional Tampa PD.
6:25 onward..  Representative Castor can not be heard four rows back despite max PA volume.  Chants of  “Read the Bill” and shouts of “Are you going to be on this plan?”  interrupt her constantly.  It should be noted that Rep Castor is a pro. She’s been to the school they run.  (I attended it in Washington in 1986)   She kept her smile in place and kept to her talking points.  Someplace in there she blamed it all on “Big Insurance Companies” and received more negative feedback from those who could hear her… not many,.  I was in row 4.
6:25 approx..  I looked out the windows and was shocked.. the place is SURROUNDED by protesters!  They have faces plastered to windows.. signs waving..
6:30 Rep Castor sits down.  The smile never left her face and she never lost her cool, but she didn’t get her message out either.  Never entertained a question.  At this point I noted that the folks in the front three rows looked like deer in the headlights.  They didn’t understand where all the negative stuff was coming from.  Even the guy with the T-shirt saying “Union Tough” looked subdued.  The exception came from those four “organizers”.  They had been to school too.  Non-confrontational, but tight organization.  Moving fast.. trying to survive.

More 10News comments from inside the room:

The bottom line is that Rep Castor did NOT want to have an interaction with the community.. I was there inside the room.. I listened… IF she had started with some reason and logic, she would have had respectful silence. But, she was there to deliver the administration’s talking points so people from row 4 on back.. (the 1st 3 rows being loaded with union members and supporters) almost immediately tuned her out and began to protest the poor weak message she carried. If you want respect, you need to earn respect. People wanted to be heard, not receive a “talking points” lecture.

Back around 1990-1991 the AFL/CIO tried to take-over (unionize) the Nursing staff. It was the scariest time I ever worked there, and that is saying a lot since it’s a county hospital. They picketed, and screamed at us as we entered & exited work. They told us if we didn’t vote to go union they would never leave. They harassed us sexually. A lot of the nurses we afraid.

We had the secret ballot. They did not win.

I don’t live there anymore, I am sorry to see that the AFL/CIO is in the nursing homes.
