Tea Party Patriots: Heath Shuler (D-NC) agrees to vote no on HR3200…
An awesome report on a face to face meeting Ashville Tea Party Members had with Rep. Shuler today via Instapundit.
For those whose Critters are no longer holding Townhalls, try to make an appointment to see your Reps. and express your views as the AshvilleTeaParty group did. We are making an appointment with our local Critter as well…
AshvilleTeaParty (go read the whole thing!):
At 5:15 pm this evening, 8 representatives of the Asheville Tea Party and 1 Hendersonville Tea Partier were given a private audience with Congressman Heath Shuler…
…Before we closed the meeting, Congressman Shuler told us he will vote no on HR3200…
…We ended our time by telling him we would relay the news that he is not “in hiding” if he will tell his colleagues in Washington that we are not a pitchfork wielding “angry mob.”…
We, the People…

This resulted from a Mom in Alabama asking her high school son to help with a commercial for the Tea Party she was involved in organizing. Boy, does it slam the message home. Very impressive.
Here is her note:
“I asked Justin if he could help me make a commercial for my group’s Tea Party. He sat down at the laptop for about an hour, and then brought this to me and asked, ‘is this okay, Mom?’ After I finished watching it, my stomach was in my throat.
Everyone that I have sent it to has really enjoyed it, so I wanted my friends to see it. I am so proud!”
A very powerful video…turn up the sound & sit back…!!!
Horror: Cabin in the Woods inside scoop….
SciFiWire has an interview up with Fran Kranz from Dollhouse, costar of Whedon’s horror paen Cabin in the Woods.
Our previous post on the film here
…Fran Kranz, the Dollhouse star who also appears in the upcoming horror movie Cabin in the Woods, calls it “basically Evil Dead meets The Truman Show.”
Writer/director Drew Goddard and co-writer/producer Joss Whedon remain secretive about the plot of the film, saying only that it will subvert the horror genre.
Kranz, who plays computer genius Topher in Whedon’s Fox series Dollhouse, wouldn’t elaborate on his own intriguing description of the movie, saying only that it has to do with “the order in which these people kind of die,” he said in an exclusive interview Thursday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Pasadena, Calif. ..
…Like the familiar story, each of the five teens fills an archetypal role before the film shakes things up. “I’m the party guy,” Kranz said. “I’m that guy. You know how it is. There’s the jock guy. There’s the virginal kind of girl. There’s the party slutty girl. There’s the kind of nice guy who kind of gets the girl. Then there’s the stoner. I’m that guy. I’m the party animal stoner guy, and it’s a lot of fun to play.”…
Sounds like good horror fun to me. The film opens February 5th, 2010…
YGN: G.I. Joe Preview…
Vodpod videos no longer available.
Courtesy of YourGeekNews:
Oh boy… do we have a treat for you! Four clips from G.I.Joe — barf. We’re really not impressed with this one so far. Between the goofy suits of armour and the lack of a Russian accent on the Baroness our hopes are pretty low for this one. But Christopher Eccleston and Joseph Gordon-Levitt making up the other Cobra villains are actually worth watching, so there’s a chance we can enjoy a scene here and there. Our request: can the sequel be called simply “Cobra” so we can see more of the villains? And just leave out any Wayans brothers, please? ~Matt + Nat
Update: Honeoye Falls, NY – Mendon Townhall – Eric Massa D…

Eric Massa D-NY Mendon Townhall - Honeoye Falls (WHEC)
…The health care debate in our area got heated. We haven’t seen a discussion this intense in a public forum in a long time. The country is in the middle of a historic debate on the future of health care. The government is poised to vote on a new bill very soon. The debate came to Mendon and the sleepy suburb got fired up.It was an overflow crowd and even before it started, people were already fighting for their side. “The government can’t run anything,” one man yelled. “Don’t start. Don’t start,” another reacted….
“will you pledge to us that you will be among the first to sign up you and your family?” one man asked to applause. Massa said he turned down the government health care coverage. “Neither me my family or children receive that benefit, nor will I ever until we solve this problem,” Massa said.
One man was upset because he thinks abortion will be covered. “And you know that! How can you say that?” he screamed. Massa answered, “There is nothing in this bill, nothing, about abortion.”
How do these Critters keep claiming they have read the bill and then deny what the bill does? He is defending ONE of the three bills. Didn’t Sen. Mikulski D-MD admit the a bill WOULD cover abortion?
….Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah quietly asked the necessary questions. Pointing to the language mandating that health insurers participating in government “gateways” must include “essential community providers,” Hatch asked: “Would that include abortion providers? I mean it looks to me like you’re expanding it to where you — well, say for instance, like Planned Parenthood. Would that put them into this system?”
Mikulski was evasive….
Massa’s position on the bill now:
..Congressman Massa asys if he had to vote on the health care bill right now — he’d probably vote no. He doesn’t like the changes it makes to Medicare. He doesn’t like the cost-sharing aspect — where New York will pick up about 10% of the cost. But if those change, Massa says he’s inclined to support the bill….
Update: next Massa townhall listed:
More than 500 people came to the Mendon Community Center in Honeoye Falls on Thursday for the first of Rep. Eric Massa’s meetings on health care reform.
Massa, D-Corning, answered questions during the outdoor forum, which included many sharp comments both in favor of and against bills that are before Congress.
Another meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 26 at Perinton Community Center, 1350 Turk Hill Road.
Notice suddenly journOlists are appearing at all the townhalls. Even with all the Obama love in their elitist hearts, the reporters have trouble ignoring the majority does not want this plan….
…He wasn’t shouted down or chased to his car. But freshman Rep. Eric Massa (D-N.Y.) still felt the heat during a two-hour health care town hall meeting Thursday night. The fervor came from both sides, although opponents to Democrats’ health reform efforts appeared to outnumber the supporters. Opponents asked him to tell House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that “we are not Nazis.” Supporters urged him to push harder for a single-payer national health plan.
Pro and con, they spoke with emotion about personal experiences. “We really don’t trust the government,” said one man who said his father received poor treatment in the Veterans Administration health system.
“I’m scared. I’m scared s—-less,” said a small business owner who said she can’t afford health care for herself or her two employees….
UPDATE: Six arrests….Tea Party Patriots: Carnahan, St Louis: Constituents locked out of town hall while SEIU let in?
Oh lookee here at the PostDispatch update, one of their reporters was arrested…
…She also saw Post-Dispatch reporter Jake Wagman, who was reporting on the event and shooting video for stltoday.com. He was standing on a sidewalk, taking video.
As she photographed everything, Majors said she heard Wagman yell her name and say that he was being arrested. She turned and saw he had been handcuffed and was being put in the back of a squad car. The officer said Wagman had been interfering, Majors said….
Update from Gateway Pundit with video. Arrests and an assault. Can’t you feel the hopeychangey in the air tonight?
The Post-Dispatch reported:
St. Louis County police say six people were arrested. Two of those were arrested on suspicion of assault, one of resisting arrest and three on suspicion of committing peace disturbances. Carnahan was gone when the ruckus started.
Kenneth Gladney, a 38-year-old conservative activist from St. Louis, said he was attacked by some of those arrested as he handed out yellow flags with “Don’t tread on me” printed on them. He spoke to the Post-Dispatch from the emergency room of the St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, where he said he was waiting to be treated for injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face that he suffered in the attack. Gladney, who is black, said one of his attackers, also a black man, used a racial slur against him before the attack started.
“It just seems there’s no freedom of speech without being attacked,” he said.
The shenanigans continue…
Via Gateway Pundit:
Over 1,000 St. Louis Tea Party Taxpayers showed up to attend the Russ Carnahan town hall meeting in South St. Louis.
They were Locked Out!
But… The Carnahah staff was sneaking in SIEU members in the side door marked “handicapped.”
After being locked out, the patriots broke into song:
