Pataki endorses Hoffman:
Courtesy of nycconservativeparty:
At the October 29, 2009, reception of the NY State Conservative Party, held at the NY Athletic Club in Manhattan, former Governor George Pataki endorsed Conservative candidate Doug Hoffman, who is running against liberal Democrat and Republican candidates in the 23rd C.D. special election. Pataki is introduced by Conservative State Chairman Michael Long. The video is dark because the room was poorly lit, but the audio is fine.
Update: ACE has the Upstate NY paper:
Dede Scozzafava, the Republican and Independence parties candidate, announced Saturday that she is suspending her campaign for the 23rd Congressional District and releasing all her supporters. The state Assemblywoman has not thrown her support to either Doug Hoffman, the Conservative Party candidate, or Bill Owens, the Democratic candidate.
“Today, I again seek to act for the good of our community,” Ms. Scozzafava wrote in a letter to friends and supporters. “It is increasingly clear that pressure is mounting on many of my supporters to shift their support. Consequently, I hereby release those individuals who have endorsed and supported my campaign to transfer their support as they see fit to do so. I am and have always been a proud Republican. It is my hope that with my actions today, my party will emerge stronger and our district and our nation can take an important step towards restoring the enduring strength and economic prosperity that has defined us for generations.”

I suspect that the evangelical dominance in the Republican Party will result in the party being relegated to a third party. I wonder if we may see a shift from the two parties we have known? I have posted on this at http://euandus3.wordpress.com/2009/11/02/the-republican-party-writing-itself-into-a-corner/

I dunno. I know the journOlists are putting out that spin,l Axelrasputin and Jarrett were also pushing that meme on Sunday Chatter, oh the moderates are being pushed out of the GOP yada yada, this from folks who have actual radicals IN the WH in important positions, quoting Mao and using the Justice Dept as a political tool (to whit the incredible decision to FORCE a NY town to list Dems on abllots claiming the minority of white voters and majority of black voters would NOT KNOW WHO to vote for without the lables)
It will be interesting fer shure. I am still feeling no qualms about my call that
2010 is an EPIC EPIC BACKLASH against Dems on every conceivable level of elections. I am lashing back myself and I am 24 yrs a Dem, Catholic (C&E-Christmas & Easter Catholic) and a member of WWF NRDC I mean I was verry very liberal and I am now vry very conseravtive in my views. I can only say the more Team TOTUS pushes left the farther right I lean apparently.
I just watched TOTUS on CNBC live in the WH with a roundtable of business advisers talking about the BAD job outlook (recall Thursday we get OCT job numbers and SEPT revisions, I expect we hit the 10% UE rate), eent out of his way to talk DOWN the job recovery trying to get ahead of it. Then he entered his LECTURE TONE to say everyone needs to, wait for it, STOP SPENDING AND BE RESPONSIBLE AND CUTBACK, UNEBLIEVABLE!! He said GOVT HAS TO CONTROL SPENDING. UNBELIEVABLE!! THE FRAKKING HYPOCRISY IS UNBELIEVABLE!
It makes me yell at the tv for cripes sake. I CALL BS!
EVERYONE would agree that is the US did NTO spend ANOTHER TRILLION on a massive new govt bureocracy we would RECOVER FASTER and they ARE SHOVING HEALTHCARE DOWN OUR THROATS! ARRGLE
Then to add insult to injury, he talked abou tA NEED FOR GROWTH,. NO SHIT SHERLOCK!!! STOP STOMPING ON AMERICAN CAPITAL AND BUSINESS AND THEY CNA MAKE SOME DAMN INVESTMENTS AND JOBS!
But nooo, he is ata table WITH GE CEO JEFF IRAN IMMELT and then says wait for it, all our new growth should come from BOLD NEW PROGRAMS (TRANSLATION MORE GOVT SPENDING) ON GREEN JOBS!!
GET OUT OF OUR WAY GOVT!! STOP THE SPENDING!@

Elections Could Doom Dems…
In New Jersey, the race for governor is neck-and-neck between Republican Chris Christie and Democrat Jon Corzine. The Virginia gubernatorial (whatever) has seen (Rep) take a commanding lead over (D). And in New York, Republican nominee Dede Scozzafava …

Ben Hoffman above seems to be one of Dede’s disgruntled ACORN supporters.
Scuzzy dropping out of the race actually gives voters the choice of an opposition canidate instead of another union mouthpiece. I’m sure her UAW bigwig hubby is wondering where they will be able to continue to make a taxpayer funded lavish living.
Scuzzy is toast when she comes up for reelection.

Hoffman’s a nut-job, but there are a lot of nut-jobs in N.Y. and in a republic, nut-jobs are represented by nut-jobs.
