BTM: What Battlestar Galactica Taught Me About Healthcare “Reform”…

By BreaktheMatrix

New Report from the Congressional Budget Office:

* Enacting this proposal would result in a net increase in federal budget deficits of about $1.0 trillion

* According to the CBO, this legislation will leave at least 36 million Americans uninsured

* It will force at least 23 million Americans to give up the health coverage they have.

* There would be no change from current law regarding Medicaid or the Childrens Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

From DownsizeDC.org:
The government already pays for nearly half of all health care. This means we’re half-socialized already.

Starting with depression era wage and price controls, and continuing with government tax policies, the politicians have made Americans dependent on their jobs to get health insurance.

State government policies have made insurance too expensive by piling on special interest mandates dictating specific types of coverage.

Medicare and Medicaid have fixed the prices we pay for health care, causing the extraordinary paradox of both price inflation and shortages in areas like primary care.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand – Vengeance promo – Premieres Jan 22 on Starz

I am pretty psyched for this one. Our previous posts on Spartacus: Blood and Sand here. It has already been renewed for a second season…

SciFiWire has more inside scoop including news Lucy bares all:

Battlestar Galactica‘s Lucy Lawless finally bares it all for her role as Lucretia, the rapacious wife of John Hannah’s Batiatus, in Starz’s upcoming Spartacus: Blood and Sand, and she’s not shy about it. At all.

“It’s a way of telling the audience, ‘You ain’t in Kansas anymore,'” Lawless said in a conference call Wednesday. “It certainly jolts you into a new reality where people had completely different relationships to their bodies and other human beings. Slavery, different attitudes to sexuality, prostitution, you name it. They thought of things differently, but essentially human beings haven’t evolved so very much, so you’re still able to relate to them.”

SciFi pushes back planned Fall airing of BSG: The Plan…

Alternate models of Six in The Plan

Alternate models of Six in The Plan

M’kay. If they are doing it to increase DVD sales, well they suck. They made plenty on DVD sales by splitting every frakkin BSG season into half seasons. I didn’t watch Caprica for this very reason. ie Season 4, Season 4.5…

Our previous posts on BSG: The Plan here

MovieWeb:

It seems that a highly-anticipated sci-fi TV movie won’t be airing in 2009 after all. Air Lock Alpha is reporting that the two-hour TV film Battlestar Galactica: The Plan won’t be airing in 2009 on the SyFy Channel.

It wasn’t clear why the move was made, but a possible suggestion was that the movie was bumped in order to maximize DVD sales. Battlestar Galactica: The Plan is still set for a DVD and Blu-ray release on October 27…
