TGIF!!! ‘Spartacus: Blood and Sand’ Premieres tonight Starz 10pm ET/PT
Let’s just say it now: “Spartacus: Blood & Sand” isn’t for the squeamish. Or the prude. There is so much blood and sex in the first hour, you might think you’ve stumbled into the world’s oldest porn. Or the first horror movie ever made. But the combination of flesh — both gored and bared — is just a small part of what makes “Spartacus” the most dynamic new series of 2010.
There are also enough dazzling effects to make George Lucas, James Cameron and Peter Jackson green with envy. Quite simply put: There has never been a show like this on television before — so don’t be the fool who misses this ground-breaking debut.
And while it may be the gladiators who draw in the dudes, it’s Lucy Lawless (and the other Roman women) who will keep them coming back since the colosseum clashes pale in comparison to the fights that unfold in “civilized” society…
Spartacus: Blood and Sand – Vengeance promo – Premieres Jan 22 on Starz
I am pretty psyched for this one. Our previous posts on Spartacus: Blood and Sand here. It has already been renewed for a second season…
Vodpod videos no longer available.
SciFiWire has more inside scoop including news Lucy bares all:
Battlestar Galactica‘s Lucy Lawless finally bares it all for her role as Lucretia, the rapacious wife of John Hannah’s Batiatus, in Starz’s upcoming Spartacus: Blood and Sand, and she’s not shy about it. At all.
“It’s a way of telling the audience, ‘You ain’t in Kansas anymore,'” Lawless said in a conference call Wednesday. “It certainly jolts you into a new reality where people had completely different relationships to their bodies and other human beings. Slavery, different attitudes to sexuality, prostitution, you name it. They thought of things differently, but essentially human beings haven’t evolved so very much, so you’re still able to relate to them.”
THR: Starz renews ‘Spartacus: Blood and Sand’ before it airs!!
A great sign, and I ALWAYS love when a Tapert/Raimi production gets more face time!
Our other posts on ‘Spartacus: Blood and Sand’ here (including the Comic Con panel with Lucy Lawless). Season 1 premieres Jan 22nd.
Starz is renewing its upcoming action-drama “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” — and the series hasn’t even premiered yet.
…“We couldn’t be happier with the first season,” said Starz Entertainment EVP, Programming, Stephan Shelanski. “‘Spartacus’ delivers on all levels – action, characters, intrigue, romance and excitement. ‘Spartacus’ is the most ambitious original project we’ve ever undertaken, and speaks to the commitment to our subscribers to provide truly original programming along with our unmatched lineup of theatrical features.”
The network is debuting the bloody spectacle, which uses the graphic novel style of films like “300,” on Jan. 22. The second season will be titled, “Spartacus: Vengeance.”…
