GM fires CEO of 1 year Fritz Henderson..

Update: Video added of Thad McCotter R-MI who I think is great, on Cavuto tonight

4:55 pm EST: Well. If you’re an investor and that conference didnt scare you nothing will. Whitacre had what looked like a legal pad and papers, he spoke for 90 seconds, said he will take the role while they seek a new CEO, he took no questions and left.

LeBeau is noting that CNBC had an interview scheduled with Fritz tomorrow from the LA Auto Show. Also that Whitacre has mentioned several times, ‘I am not a car guy’, since being brought on as Chair. Yep. And now he is President CEO and Chair, oh goody! Talk about bizarre timing, we knew Fritz wanted to sell Opel and the Board did not, but WTH happened to make them fire Fritz tonight?

Ain’t being run by the union and the government grand?

4:15 pm EST: Breaking on CNBC now, Presser on “Significant Decisions” by the Board in 10 mins..

Update: Phil LeBeau at CNBC has scoopage:

…It is unclear whether he is stepping down on his own, or whether he was asked to resign. It’s also unclear who will take his role as CEO, but GM Chairman Ed Whitacre will serve as interim CEO, according to the Associated Press.GM said it will hold a news conference at 4:30 pm on “significant decisions” by the board. CNBC.com will carry it live. General Motors had no comment.

Ed Whitacre the man who used to run ATT that they dragged out of retirement to be Chairman. Oy!

Henderson took over for former CEO Rick Wagoner when the White House removed him from the position in March….

Think about how scary that is, “when the WH removed him form the position”. Under what possible authority did they do that? And the sooper genius economists and academics were fine with it, so now no capital will invest in American jobs. Maria Baritromo just interviewed Larry Fink and he said he expects 2% GDP in 2010, a million jobs lost in state govt and populism and unemployment anger at the mid term elections. Man oh man.

Cry Me a River: Phil Spector ‘terrified of being done in’ in prison…

Guilty as sin. Caged like the killer he is. Yay. Cry me a river you rat bastard. Our previous post on Lana Clarkson’s tragic death here

The Sun reports Phil is still living in his own private Idaho of the mind:

In rambling letters to a pal, Spector, serving life for murdering a B-list actress, moaned: “Imagine sending me to the same prison – shows how low they can go.

“They’d kill you in here for a 39-cent bag of soup!”

The twisted Wall of Sound genius said he was terrified of being done in by other lags and that being kept locked in his 3ft by 7ft cell was better than having to mix with them at mealtimes.

TOTUS Tossin’ and Turnin’ All Night….

WaPo:

President Barack Obama said on Tuesday that worrying about the U.S. government’s finances “keeps me awake at night” and the country needed to start planning now to tackle soaring deficits.

BWAAAAAHAAAAAAA!!! AS IF!!! BWAAAAHAAAAAA!!!!

In a pair of interviews on CNBC and Bloomberg television, Obama defended increasing government spending to prevent the recession from worsening, and warned the unemployment rate may hit 10 percent this year, a level not seen since 1983.

“There’s no doubt that we’ve got a serious problem in terms of our long-term deficits and debt,” he told CNBC. “I make no apologies for having acted short term to deal with our recession.”

But he said once the recession ends, “we’re going to have to close that gap between the amount of money coming in and the amount of money going out.”..

How do YOU think he plans to ‘close that gap’? Taxes baby taxes…and does this ANGST over the deficit make him slow spending? of course not! Full Steam Ahead on another 2 trillion!!!

AP:

Senate sources say the latest cost estimates for health care legislation are around $1.6 trillion over 10 years. Two Senate staffers, one Democratic and one Republican, said Congressional Budget Office estimates put the cost of the Finance Committee version of the bill at around $1.6 trillion.

A third staffer, a Finance Committee Democratic aide, indicated committee members are working to lower the cost to less than $1 trillion over 10 years, a level preferred by the Obama administration.

He would prefer a mere 1 trillion added to the deficit, let’s get that graph again, the one WITHOUT the GINORMOUS Health Plan added in, just to see where we are BEFORE the health spending:

What is that waaay over on the left...oh yeah a SURPLUS...

What is that waaay over on the left...oh yeah a SURPLUS...

WE CANNOT AFFORD THIS, Call your Congress Critters now AND AFTER the ABC Pravda show….

Supremes Take On Chrysler Case…issues stay on sale of assets…unclear if arguments will be heard but sale is stayed..

Update 2: CNBC has it up:

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has temporarily delayed Chrysler’s sale to Fiat. Ginsburg says in an order Monday that the sale is “stayed pending further order.” The action indicates that the delay may only be temporary.

Update: Indiana State Treasurer Richard Mourdouck who filed appeal is on CNBC now, he responds to Team TOTUS’ claims that if sale is not done by June 15th it will collapse as FIAT will pull out by calling BS, noting FIAT is getting the Chrysler stake FOR FREE, Uncle Sam will be giving FIAT 400million no strings, FIAT will contribute- zero dollars…..

Breaking on CNBC now…this is the appeal filed by the Indiana Pension Funds….

Background:

The U.S. Supreme Court will delay its decision on the Chrysler matter until late Monday afternoon after three Indiana state pension and construction funds filed emergency papers to block the company’s sale to Fiat. The group filed the papers on Sunday in hopes of receiving an appeal and a better deal.

An appeals court in New York approved the sale Friday, but gave objectors until Monday afternoon to try to get the Supreme Court to intervene. Chrysler wants to sell the bulk of its assets to a group led by Italy’s Fiat Group as part of its plan to emerge from bankruptcy protection. The emergency request went first to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who handles such matters from New York. She can act on her own or refer it to the entire court.

The Indiana State Police Pension Fund, the Indiana Teacher’s Retirement Fund and the state’s Major Moves Construction Fund claim the deal unfairly favors the interests of Chrysler’s unsecured stakeholders ahead of those of secured debtholders such as the funds.

The funds also challenged the constitutionality of the Treasury Department’s use of money from the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) to supply Chrysler’s bankruptcy protection financing. They say the government did so without congressional authority.

Phil Spector found Guilty- Second Degree Murder -No Bail

Update: I hear folks asking what was different this time around, they had expected at best a compromise verdict with the manslaughter charge added as an option this second trial.. I’ll tell you what was different., there was no engineer on the jury this time. That’s it, period. Ask any prosecutor, engineers have to have every conceivable and even inconceivable thing explained to find guilt, and the engineer on the last jury got the defense the hung jury last time around…

The Ronettes, Be My Baby (Phil also used to lock up Ronnie when they were married)

I watched the first trial and folks, he did it.

Drudge has it headlined

NBC LA : Music producer Phil Spector has been found guilty of second-degree murder in the February 2003 shooting death of actress Lana Clarkson.

Live Video: Spector Verdict

Jurors also found Spector personally used the firearm while committing the crime at his Alhambra mansion. Sentencing has been set for May 29.

The judge denied bail and Spector, wearing a fire-engine red tie and pocket square, was taken into custody after the verdict was announced. Deputies led Spector from the courtroom.

Second-degree murder carries a penalty of 15 years to life in prison.

Spector has been pulling guns on people, specifically women trying to leave, for over 20 years and he finally killed someone. God Bless Lana Clarkson and her family and friends.

Phil’s dad killed himself and his epitaph is To Know Him was To Love Him, yes like Phil’s first hit single. Very disturbed, gifted, but profoundly disturbed man.
