Game of Thrones gets renewal for Second Season already! (A Clash of Kings storyline?)
Sweet~from CoronaComingAttractions:
Two days after the premiere episode aired, HBO has renewed its Game of Thrones series for a second season.
“We are delighted by the way David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have brought George R.R. Martin’s amazing book series to the screen, and thrilled by the support of the media and our viewers,” said HBO president Michael Lombardo. “This is the continuation of an exciting creative partnership.”
10 episodes make up the first season of Game of Thrones, which is following the storyline from Martin’s first novel in the series, A Song of Fire and Ice. While not mentioned by the network in their announcement, it’s assumed that the second season would also comprise of 10 episodes. More defined is our knowledge that the second novel in the fantasy series, A Clash of Kings, will provide the story fodder for GoT‘s second season.
Ratings for the premiere episode are also in. 2.2 million viewers watched the first airing of Game of Thrones on Sunday evening, followed by 1.2 million that watched the second showing and 800,000 for the third airing….
