Special Elections, Primaries – PA, KY, AR, AZ

One more note on PA-12, Politico had a piece yesterday that the elections would determine who still had the juice, the influence so to speak. Well, clearly it is NOT Obama.

You know who campaigned for Critz? Big Dawg that’s who.

The Dems who still have influence with the blue collar workers are NOT the Obama wing, it is the Clinton wing still kickin’. DLC baby. But don’t worry Obama Critters, you have Barack in the Fall, lol.

Former President Bill Clinton sought to soothe the concerns of discontented voters in a tight special election race to replace the late Rep. John Murtha, stressing it was the Democratic nominee who could best bring more jobs to the blue-collar district.Candidate Mark Critz, a top Murtha aide, hopes to parlay an appearance Sunday at the half-hour rally with Clinton into more votes at the polls Tuesday as the campaign against Republican businessman Tim Burns draws to a close…..

AZ Morning After Update: Gov Brewer wins another one. She said we couldnt talk corporate tax cuts until we raised the sales tax, hopefully she will cut corp taxes now to bring jobs.

Arizonans will pay an extra penny per dollar in sales tax for the next three years after voters overwhelmingly approved Proposition 100, infusing the state with much-needed cash and giving Gov. Jan Brewer a victory she’s spent 14 months fighting for.

The proposition passed 64-36, a margin no doubt helped by a $2.2 million effort by campaign committees.

MiM here the Axe the Tax Campaign raised, wait for it, $1200.00 to fight the tax, poor bastards. Pro tax advocates including Teachers Unions had over 2 million.

The vote preserves nearly $900 million in state spending on education, public safety, health care and other government sectors that would have been automatically cut if Prop. 100 had failed.

A broad coalition of education, business and other groups comprised the Yes on 100 effort, but the election results were likely sweetest for Brewer, who began pushing for a temporary sales tax increase in March 2009, less than two months after taking office amid the worst budget crisis in state history.

“Arizonans have spoken today. They told us they understood the depth of the financial crisis in Arizona. And they told us they understood doing the right thing almost always means doing the hard thing. And today, they did the hard thing,” a visibly emotional Brewer said at the Yes on 100 victory party in central Phoenix. “I never doubted that we had it in us.”….

AR- Blanche Lincoln goes to a runoff with lefty funded Lt Gov Halter, as the three way race prevented her from getting the 50% she needed.

Update: 10:34pm EST: PA-12 Burns conceded to Critz- in the immortal words of Jim Steinman and Meatloaf, 2 out of 3 aint bad..

Update: 10:14– Yep Bret Baier announcing the win for Sestak. 10:13 pm EST: Cavuto says they called it for Sestak waiting for headline to cross..

Update: RANDslide! They haven’t called it yet but they should… Just called it 7:48pmEST

Update 3: Politico Ticker on  top of their front page is beginning to show results coming in…

KY 16.4% precincts in, Paul ahead 52.8% to Grayson’s 34.2%

Update 2: ABC has ‘real-time’ results here

KY polls close first IIRC, ABC KY results coming in here

Reports have super light turnout across PA in the rain, bad news for snarlin Arlen…

Update: No go for Sheriff Joe..

Update: Sheriff Joe will not run for Governor, he is keeping his Sheriff badge and enforcing our new law..maybe the 5th time will be the charm…

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio announced that he will not run for governor, once again ending Arizona’s election-year tradition of the sheriff flirting with the state’s highest office….

…“I am humbled by the encouragement and outpouring of support for me to run for governor. However, at the same time, so many people have supported my campaign for reelection that I do not want to betray them by running for another office,” Arpaio said in a press statement. “I have come so far and accomplished so much in the past 18 years as sheriff that to leave now just doesn’t make sense.”…

Gov. Brewer signs AZ illegal immigration enforcement bill…

As Gov Brewer said at the signing, AZ has requested Federal assistance from Obama 5 times with no result. We do not have the money to call up the National Guard for our border and the police need the ability to enforce the immigration laws when they encounter criminals. In addition to the international drug smuggling rings committing violence, all it takes is one terrorist crossing the border to endanger the entire country.

Pinal County Sheriff spoke about the crime epidemic this morning:
