I met Chelsea briefly last January (I shook her hand and babbled effusive praise at her) and she is a lovely young woman. May the happy couple have a long and happy life together!
…A Clinton spokesman confirms that the only child of former president Bill Clinton and current secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, is engaged.
Matt McKenna tells ABC News that Clinton, 29, is set to marry longtime boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky.
The duo is believed to have gotten engaged in New York over Thanksgiving, McKenna says. They sent out this announcement via e-mail on Nov. 27:
“We’re sorry for the mass e-mail but we wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving! We also wanted to share that we are engaged! We didn’t get married this past summer despite the stories to the contrary, but we are looking toward next summer and hope you all will be there to celebrate with us. Happy Holidays! Chelsea & Marc.”
Mezvinsky is the son of former Rep. Ed Mezvinsky (D-Iowa) and former Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky, (D-Pa.) He and Clinton met in Washington, and their relationship blossomed at Stanford University….
(YES! Marc IS the son of the Marjorie who lost her seat in ’94 after the tough carbon vote! She lost her seat but gained a daughter in law 🙂 )
