Ain’t Talkin’ ’bout Love: moderate Dems should support Scott Brown (MASS) and Sue Lowden (NV)

Vodpod videos no longer available.

I know this is sacrilege for a lot of Dems, but at this point I am supporting Scott Brown and Sue Lowden. Ask yourself something Democrats, who the hell are we supporting and why?! These Democratic Senators killed prescription drug reimportation, they are gutting Medicare, they are rolling over on the main issues that the party platform espouses in re women and progressive taxation.

WaPo: Chris Dodd (D-CT) expected to announce retirement Wednesday…

1/6 Update 8:34 am: CT AG Richard Blumenthal just announced on Squawk Box he WILL be running for Dodd’s seat. Hey, better Blumie than Dodd. Let’s hope it is harder for corpocrats to spin Blumie to being anti consumer after his many years of fighting FOR consumers in CT. And if you are in the GOP check out Rob Simmons also running for the seat. Blumenthal has a press conference scheduled for 230pm today in CT.

12:15am EST: WaPo breaking it…fingers crossed it’s true! Excellent!!

Dodd endorsing Obama after dropping out of the Dem primaries in 08. Laugh all the way to retirement you red faced AIG bonus giving frakker.

WaPo Chris Cilizza:

Conn. Sen. Chris Dodd expected to announce retirement, sources say Sen. Christopher J. Dodd (Conn.), a leading Democrat whose political star fell along with the nation’s economy, is expected to announce Wednesday that he has decided against running for reelection this November, according to sources briefed on the decision. Dodd, in his fifth term, chairs the Senate Banking Committee. His retirement would be the second such announcement by a Senate Democrat in 24 hours; North Dakota’s Byron Dorgan said Tuesday that he would not run this fall.

William Jefferson (former Rep. D-LA) gets 13 years for bribery

Vodpod videos no longer available.]

Breaking on Fox

Prosecutors wanted the 62-year-old William Jefferson, a Democrat who represented parts of New Orleans, to serve at least 27 years in prison while the defense wanted less than 10 years.

Jefferson said nothing in court after he was sentenced. He was convicted in August of 11 counts, including bribery and racketeering. Prosecutors at his two-month trial said he took roughly $500,000 in bribes and sought millions more. He was acquitted of five other charges, including the one most closely associated with the money in his freezer.

The investigation started in March 2005. In August of that year, FBI agents searched Jefferson’s Washington home and found the cash. Prosecutors said he had planned to use the money to pay a bribe to the then-vice president of Nigeria to secure a multimillion-dollar telecommunications deal there, an accusation Jefferson denied….

This seat is held by Rep J Cao now, (who may be a RINO but who seems to be an honest man who loves America and is serving the wishes of his 76% Dem constituents, and all without stealing from people!)

Update: NYT covers Edwards imminent admission of paternity; Mickey Kaus nailed it on Edwards Paternity and PR repair story…

brand_lowlife_xUpdate: 9/19/09: Oh look the NYT has decided to help float trail balloons for that lowlife frakker Breck Boy to admit paternity. They devote a 2 page piece to this now, after Edwards served his purpose- a stalking horse to draw votes away from Hillary in Iowa and afterward. What an utter dirtbag Edwards is. A genuine POS with no redemptive qualities I can see at all.

(…)According to people familiar with the grand jury investigation, prosecutors are considering a complicated and novel legal issue: whether payments to a candidate’s mistress to ensure her silence (and thus maintain the candidate’s viability) should be considered campaign donations and thus whether they should be reported. When Mr. Edwards was running for president, and even later when he still held out hope of a senior cabinet position in the Obama administration, two of his wealthy patrons, through a once-trusted Edwards aide, quietly provided Ms. Hunter with large financial benefits, including a new BMW and lodging, that were used to keep her out of public view.

Uhm we call it HUSH MONEY in mainstream America. Isn’t taking money from donors to keep your mistress’ mouth shut  a conspiracy to commit fraud or something? He certainly defrauded the Democrats who voted for him in the primaries and caucuses, and he helped Obama gang up on Hill in that SC debate. Evil bastard. The article suggests it is not a CRIME to defraud the FEC in election donations, Guess Obama donors DOODAD and DOODADPRO can sleep soundly. Why isn’t Edwards disbarred? Here is one of my fave quotes, picture Breck Boy, Mr. ‘my daddy worked in a mill’, telling Rielle they just have to wait for Elizabeth TO DIE:

…In the proposal, which The New York Times examined, Mr. Young asserts that he assisted the affair by setting up private meetings between Mr. Edwards and Ms. Hunter. He wrote that Mr. Edwards once calmed an anxious Ms. Hunter by promising her that after his wife died, he would marry her in a rooftop ceremony in New York with an appearance by the Dave Matthews Band..

Here is further evidence of just what whackos these 2 are:

Ms. Hunter gave her daughter the middle name Quinn, and people who have spoken with her said its resemblance to the Latin prefix for five was to proclaim that the baby was Mr. Edwards’s fifth child. (He had four with Mrs. Edwards, the oldest of whom was killed in a car accident).

Jeebus she is naming the kid in code. Does she think she is in a Dan Brown novel? And Elizabeth is nothing more than an enabler, period. She knew about this in the photo below, when they gave their big, poor me presser saying Elizabeth’s cancer was back but Breck Boy would CARRY ON his campaign anyway, knowing all the while he was NOT VIABLE to win the General Election. And this POS talked a LOT about Big Dawg. Frakkin hypocrite.

Pathetic bunch of people, taking money from poor Americans in campaign donations when HE KNEW and Elizabeth also knew this was waiting to blow up and eliminate his chance of being elected. Poor people gave him their money and he railed about Two Americas, maybe he saw one for each of  his two faces. He is disgusting.

CHAPEL HILL, NC - MARCH 22: Elizabeth Edwards listens to her husband, Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards speak at a news conference concerning the return of her cancer March 22, 2007 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Elizabeth said that the former U.S. senator would continue his run for the presidency. (Photo by Sara D. Davis/Getty Images) Cuz nothing could be allowed to stand in the way of Breck Boy's wgo right Liz? Not your cancer, not his affair, not the fact that he would drag the whole party down, nothing. Frakkers.

Go show Mickey some love, he outlines the total hackery of KOSKIDZ and assorted others during the primaries…

Our previous post on Mickey’s take down of Breck Boy and the PR plan here

….Please do not forget that in his August, 2008 Nightline ‘confession,’–“I take full responsibility”–Edwards didn’t just deny paternity but said paternity was “not possible” because the affair with Hunter was over when the baby must have been conceived. To do otherwise would have interfered with his carefully crafted modified limited story about the affair–that it involved “a short period in 2006” and ended before Elizabeth’s cancer recurred and before he went galavanting around the country advertising his fidelity and good character. If Edwards is in fact the father this entire fallback edifice of BS crumbles. … It’s worth reading the transcript of the ABC interviewpractically every sentence out of Edwards’ mouth is a lie. He doesn’t know who the baby was in the Enquirer‘s photos, suggests the photos were doctored, doesn’t know whether Andrew Young, the aide who took the fall, is the father, says Rielle Hunter’s hiring as a videographer had nothing to do with the affair, etc.. And he does it all sanctimoniously….

Update: WRAL says yes he will admit paternity…Is John Edwards trying to rehab his image via the Grand Jury?

Update: 8/13: AceHQ has a confirmation tweet up from WRAL TV which indicates Mickey Kaus NAILED IT and this entire Grand Jury appearance was his lead up to a public penance.   I say go away, far away, far, far away.

Just a tweet:

WRAL-TV reports that former presidential candidate John Edwards will admit he is the father of his former mistress’ 18-month-old daughter.

8/11: Lies and the lying liars who tell them. Breck Boy makes me ILL. REALLY ILL. He had NO BUSINESS in our primary when he KNEW Rielle was out there. Frakkin hypocrite with his Two Americas living in his 140k sf house making a living off med mal suits and having a babymomma while allowing TOTUS to use him as a stalking horse to draw primary voters away from Hill. And Elizabeth enabled him period.

Reminds me of an Alice in Chains song…..maaaan in the box….buried in his shxt…..

Money quote from Mickey Kaus:

…overlook the less sensational, but still damning truth–which is that he’d been cheating on his cancer stricken wife after basing his campaign in large part on his faithfulness….

From KausFiles via Instapundit:

…But now there is a credible rumor of a similar PR sleight of hand in the works that would, in theory, allow Edwards to slink away from his (hypothetical) guilt on the issue the paternity tests would have resolved. It would go like this (I’m paraphrasing):

When the grand jury investigating Edwards on campaign finance charges (e.g., did he illegally use campaign money to pay Hunter?) comes back with “not sufficient to press charges,” Edwards will in short order admit it’s his kid. The idea is that the grand jury’s “insufficient evidence” finding will start refurbishing his image, and that this news will overwhelm his admission of paternity (even though he specifically denied paternity was even possible** in his BS-riddled 2008 Nightline “confession”).

It’s just a rumor, remember!

Any former Breck Boy supporters thinking of falling for this line, recall this, just ONE of the numerous hypocritical moments post Primary 2008, (and of course I will never forgive them for ‘endorsing’ Obama when Hill had her nightly interviews scheduled to celebrate her kickaxx wins in KY WVA the night before, frakkers.)..:

**–Exact quote: “I would welcome participating in a paternity test. Be happy to participate in one. I know that it’s not possible that this child could be mine because of the timing of events, so I know it’s not possible. Happy to take a paternity test, and would love to see it happen.” [Emphasis added] Transcript here. 4:50 P.M.

Here is Mr ‘Two Americas’ saying the Trial Lawyers are somehow not a lobbying arm, yeah mkay John go tell that shxt to someone who cares…
