Update: Dollhouse ratings tank again, hit season low: drops 20% from last episode; Smallville ties ABC for third place, hits season high…

Update: Promo for December epis, Summer! 2.5 The Public Eye, 2.6 The Left Hand:

Update: Just caught last night’s Dollhouse ‘Belonging’ on FoxonDemand. Have to agree with SciFiWire (link below) it was the best of the season so far. Sadly Joss aired absolute dreck in his first few episodes this season and has now lost the eyeballs. Next time you get a golden chance from a network and are brought back from the dead use it wisely!

SciFiWire: A first look at guest star Summer Glau (left, with Eliza Dushku) from the upcoming episode "The Left Hand"

SciFiWire: A first look at guest star Summer Glau (left, with Eliza Dushku) from the upcoming episode "The Left Hand"

Last night was supposed to be one of the ‘good’ episodes too, per SciFiWire..Kind of sucks that Summer has not even made her first appearance yet and cancellation is in the air, but Joss wasted his first few epis this season (ESPECIALLY the breast feeding epi, ugh!) and now Dollhouse ratings are in the tank..

THR Live Feed:

(…)In its final episode before its sweeps hiatus, “Dollhouse” (2.1 million, 0.8) was down 20% in the demo from its last episode two weeks ago.I’m hesitant to make any declarations about the fate “Dollhouse.” Though I broke the news last season that Fox was renewing the show, that decision surprised me as much as anybody. So keeping in mind that in this new wacky ratings universe broadcast shows drawing under a 2.0 are getting renewals, it is really tough to see “Dollhouse” continuing beyond the current episode order.

Good news for “Smallville” (2.5 million, 1.1) fans, though. The show matched last week’s season high (which also held up in the nationals, btw). That means The CW tied ABC for third place at 8 p.m. (18-49 is not their sales demo, but they still keep an eye on it). Regardless of the network’s mixed feelings about “Smallville,” any show that gets the network out of fifth place among the industry’s standard measurement is tough to ignore. So after climbing significantly to reach season highs for two weeks in a row, does that mean it’s time to update The Live Feed’s TV Series Survival Status Report? I think so…..

Update: FOX Exec Preston Beckman agrees he is an a**hole; TSCC – the machine aspires to be human; Dollhouse – the human is reduced to a machine

tsccbanner

Update: 10/16 SciFiWire picked up one of the THR Beckman quotes around the Dollhouse 13 episode pickup I had not seen before.

So word from Joss is that prxck Reilly (who hated TSCC and made nasty comments about we TSCC fans at the announcement it wasnt being picked up) called Joss with the AWFUL rating of S2 premiere and the first thing he told Joss was Dont worry we are airing all 13. Yeah cuz Reilly clearly has a hard on for Dollhouse and hated TSCC.

Could not be more crystal clear. But in case it wasnt Preston admits he is an axxhole and whines about Joss fans giing him shxt. Frak the studio execs, they suck.

(…)”If you cancel it, you’re an asshole; if you renew it and then don’t put it back on, you’re an asshole,” he said. “I’m still paying for ‘Terminator.’ ‘Dollhouse’ has a small rabid fan base that in the world of social media seems bigger than it is. We gave them another season knowing full well we were going to burn in hell if we pulled it.”

Great comment on SciFiWire from a fan:

By ants97 at 1:48 PM ON 10/16/09

you see that excuse would actually hold some credence if they hadn’t cancelled tscc which gained better live numbers, better dvr numbers, better dvd sales and has a much larger and more rabid fan base than the 5 dolhhouse guys over at whedonesque. I mean would the dollhouse fans hire a mobile billboard or cinema screen time to get their show back on the air, no they’ll go and re watch tru calling. No it’s all down to the fact that dollhouse is now dirt cheap to make and fox had no other shows to air on a friday as seen by the 2 comedy shows dollhouse has been paired with. The fans excuse is just a pathetic attempt to garner favour with the sci fi community after it lost them after cancelling firefly and tscc amongst others. When they cancel fringe this season let them see what pathetic excuse them come up with for that one.

I want my TSCC.

tscc

Yep. TSCC all the way baby. As the Cameron/John storyline became more romantic, FOX seemed wigged by it, but they clearly have no problem dressing a grown woman as a Barbie and making her a personal robot. Huh.

More proof life is not fair: FOX keeps Dollhouse, talks Season 3 and uses DVR ratings as the reason.. after cancelling TSCC which had better DVR ratings …

Update: Notice that FOX is using Summer Glau to draw viewers to Dollhouse a full 3 WEEKS BEFORE her episodes air!! (Baseball yeah but more due to bad ratings IMO)You know what would draw even more viewers? TSCC!!!! Terminator was too damned dark for that early hour. They shouldve shxt canned Dollhouse and moved TSCC back an hour.

Unbelievable. The only good thing I can say is we will get to see Summer Glau’s Dollhouse episodes.

SciFiWire:

The live ratings for Fox’s Dollhouse had leveled off as of the third episode, which aired Friday, but the good news for fans is that new numbers from DVRs show are great and because of that, Fox has decided to air all of the 13 episodes that have been ordered for this season so far.

‘Levelled off’ must mean stopped falling off a cliff .

Who expected that??

Here’s the scoop: The audience for Joss Whedon’s show jumped more than half when factoring in the people who watched it later on DVRs, according to The Hollywood Reporter:

“We’re going to run all the episodes,” Fox scheduling chief Preston Beckman said. “We’re not saying we’re happy with those numbers, or accept them, but we don’t have to overreact.”

Not OVERREACT?? You mean like when you CANCELLED TSCC which had an INTERNATIONAL FAN BASE? Like that you toolz??

Premiere-week DVR data released Monday showed that the second-season “Dollhouse” debut climbed 50% from its very modest base of a 1.0 rating in the adults 18-49 demo. Beckman said DVR results have played a role in the show’s fate, though he wasn’t surprised by the new numbers.

“It’s one of the reasons that we brought ‘Dollhouse’ back; we knew it was DVR-friendly,” Beckman said. “Hopefully we’ll see the overnight ratings increase from week to week. With some shows, you have to look at the bigger picture.”

With SOME SHOWS you look at the DVR numbers? DVR results ‘played a role’ ? Oh frak me man, these people are full of shxt! They frakkin cancelled the WRONG SHOW and REILLY is a tool and we all know it and this is to save face. WhatEVAH! But how can we be even MORE insulting to TSCC fans who mounted an EPIC campaign and had BETTER DVR numbers?

Another big surprise? They’re even contemplating a third season! Fox says it will decide whether to keep the show going after the second season ends. Of course, they still have to decide whether to order the “back nine” episodes of the current season to make up a full 22…

Futurama voice cast to keep their roles…

Seems this is still how Hollywood and FOX in particular ‘bargain’; they kill a few good shows like TSCC and then hang threats over the talent at renewal. Some things never change. Like Hollywood and Washington, D.C….well good news for the fans.

These studio execs are so clueless you never really know where they will land, which is I guess how they like it. I think it just kills off potential fans and pixxes people off…

Our post on the initial cast contract cancellation here

SciFiWire

Remember that report that Fox had sent out a casting call to replace the voice actors in the newly resurrected Futurama episodes that will air soon on Comedy Central? Seems it was a bargaining ploy after all.

Futurama star Maurice LaMarche, who voices a number of roles on the show—I counted 126 of them on IMDB.com, including Kif Kroker—confirms that that the original cast will back when the show is resurrected in 2010.

“Officially, my deal is done,” LaMarche said Friday in an exclusive interview with SCI FI Wire. “While I can’t speak for the rest of the cast, I see no reason not to expect all the others will do the same by day’s end.” LaMarche’s comments confirm a report in the Toronto Star.

The newspaper reports that the entire voice cast has just signed a new contract with Fox after weeks of intense salary negotiations:

As late as last week, the network was threatening to replace the original voices of Matt Groening’s cult-hit cartoon, to the point of actually announcing a casting call for voice actors to replace them.

The compromise agreement, with the studio paying more and the actors accepting less, comes after the announcement of a 26-episode pick-up here by Comedy Central.

“I am extremely grateful to all the fans of Futurama who signed petitions and sent e-mails, both to Fox to profess their dedication to the original cast, and to me, personally, to express their support,” LaMarche said. “All the love has been great, and it has meant the world to me. I know how very fortunate I am to have found a career in this profession, and even more fortunate to be working with such incredibly talented people as Matt Groening and David X. Cohen. And I’m hugely grateful to 20th Century Fox TV and Comedy Central to be back working on the funniest and most original animated show in prime time! Futurama am the greetest! And me am returning for a not no good raisin!”

Fox Execs Screw Fans Again: Entire Voice Cast of ‘Futurama’ Fired…

These people are unreal. First they kill TSCC (and kick fans in the teeth as they make the announcement), now this. The show’s fans are already pixxed, here they were ecstatic it was picked up with new episodes on ComedyCentral and now the studio fraks them. We at MiM wish them luck on their mission to teach FOX Network Executives to respect fans and talent…

From Corona Coming Attractions:

20th Century Fox Television is telling the world that when Futurama returns with a slate of all-new 26 episodes on Comedy Central next year the voice actors that gave life to the lines of Fry, Bender, Leela and the rest of the cast won’t be returning. The studio has said that it could not come to an agreement with actors Billy West, John DiMaggio, Katey Segal, Tress MacNeille and Maurice LaMarche and will be finding replacements for them.

According to an inside source that spoke with The Hollywood Reporter, the voice cast asked for a raise of at least ten times the amount that they were paid for their services during Futurama‘s original run on the Fox network. “We love the Futurama voice performers and absolutely wanted to use them, but unfortunately, we could not meet their salary demands,” Fox said in a statement released today. “While replacing these talented actors will be difficult, the show must go on. We are confident that we will find terrific new performers to give voice to [creators] Matt [Groening] and David [Cohen]’s brilliantly subversive characters.” So far a representative for the actors’ side hasn’t made an official statement… (go read the whole thing)

BSG: 4 Seasons in 4 minutes; Katee Sackhoff joins 24; Schmoes Know: Interviews Katee Sackhoff Part 1 and Eddie Olmos ‘blown away’ by ‘The Plan’…

BSG Total Recap created by freelancerxo02

CoronaComingAttractions has the scoop on Katee joining 24 next season, well ALLRIGHT!!! I can’t wait to see Katee in the bloopers :0)

Katee Sackhoff has landed her first ongoing role since reaching the end of Battlestar Galactica. The blonde-haired actress who played Starbuck throughout all four seasons of BSG has been cast as CTU staff member Dana Walsh in the upcoming eighth season of Fox’s 24.

Described by THR as “a smart and competent expert data analyst” at the counter-terrorism unit department of the government, her character has a hidden romantic connection with another new face, CTU agent Davis Cole (to be played by Freddie Prinze Jr.)

CCA on The Plan and how Eddie feels about it:

When Edward James Olmos recently talked about his upcoming Battlestar Galactica two-hour special movie The Plan he set the expectation bar pretty high. The man who played Admiral William Adama and who also directed the special spoke highly of the events we’ll see in the show, saying that the events that will unfold will leave the audience “gasping.”

“You see the complete opposite of the first 281 days of what we went through, … seen through the eyes of the Cylons, and it is breathtaking,” Olmost told the assembled crowd at the Los Angeles Times showbiz industry series called The Envelope (and as was reported online by Sci Fi Wire.) “It’s fantastic. It’s not fun, but I will say that you will sit there [gasping].”..
