‘Heathers’ new tv series planned…

First it was coming to Broadway, then it was headed back to the big screen, but now it’s been confirmed that “Heathers” will live on as a weekly television show.
“We talked about doing a film remake at times, but doing it for TV seemed like a fresh and original idea,” Lakeshore president Gary Lucchesi told Variety. And despite my previous proclamations of childhood rape when my favorite pop culture touchstones are reappropriated, I am so behind this idea, I would wear its scrunchie if asked.
Basically this will be Fox’s version of “Gossip Girl,” which in my opinion, you can never have too much of. No word yet on whether OG stars Winona Ryder, Shannen Doherty, Christian Slater or Martha Dumptruck will return, but considering they could all use the work, I’d expect to see some familiar faces roaming the halls of Westerberg High….

…Ryder also confirmed a sequel is in the works to her 1988 cult film Heathers…
“Whatever you hear, there is a sequel in the works. I swear to God,” she told the magazine. “But for some reason the writer Dan Waters and director Michael Lehman don’t want to talk about it. I’ve been wanting to do a sequel forever. There is a story, and Christian [Slater] has agreed to come back as a kind of Obi-Wan character.”…
