Marvel’s Thor casts Warrior’s Three, Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman also cast

I can’t wait. So glad Kenneth Branagh is doing this one. Variety has it:

“Thor” helmer Kenneth Branagh has locked Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson, and Tadanobu Asano to play Warrior’s Three, a trio of Asgardian adventurers who fight alongside the Norse god in the Marvel Entertainment drama.Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston and Natalie Portman also star in the pic scripted by Mark Protosevich and Zack Stentz. Paramount Pictures will release “Thor” on May 20, 2011….

More from FirstShowing.net:

Way back before we knew that Chris Hemsworth had been cast to play Thor, one of the originally rumored candidates for the role was Alexander Skarsgard (who is currently on “True Blood”), the son of more well known actor Stellan Skarsgard. According to a report from ComingSoon (that comes from a translation of a Swedish write-up via TT Spektra in Sweden), Stellan Skarsgard revealed that he has joined the cast of Kenneth Branagh’s Thor in a role that he can’t yet reveal. Stellan is still an incredibly talented actor and I gained even more respect for him after Pirates of the Caribbean (where he played Will Turner’s father).

The Swedish article claims “Skarsgård is ready for a role in action movie Thor” and includes this quote: “They wanted me to sign without reading the script. That I refused to do. Then they sent one to me that was so coded that I could only print one copy.” ….With Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander, Tom Hiddleston, and now Stellan Skarsgard, Kenneth Branagh has rounded up one hell of a great cast for Thor..

On the casting of Chris Hemsworth (Kirk’s dad in ST 2009!):

It looks like we finally have our Thor! After months and months of casting rumors, Nikki Finke at Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Australian actor Chris Hemsworth has been cast as the Norse God of Thunder. You may not know Hemsworth by name yet, but if you’ve seen Star Trek, you know his face – he played Kirk’s father George Kirk in the opening of that movie. Finke says that he got the role through some insistence on the part of his agent, and once he got on tape for a reading the second time, he was in. Hemsworth also scored the lead role in MGM’s remake of Red Dawn that’s also in development this year….

Report: Kate Beckinsale to return for Underworld 4 (in 3D!)…

Fan video created by Sueiza

Bloody Disgusting has the scoop!

After the news broke that Sony Screen Gems was kicking off a brand new Underworld trilogy with Underworld 4 (also said to be shot in 3-D), we started doing some digging and have stumbled on to a pretty big discovery. Two sources have told Bloody Disgusting that Kate Beckinsale is in fact attached to return as the beautiful vampire warrior Selene, who made her first appearance in Len Wiseman’s film from 2003. What does this mean? It means Kate-Beckinsale-in-pleather-in-mother-effin’-3D, that’s what! Now, I should be clear that this should be taken strictly as rumor as we have not been able to get any official confirmation from people involved in the actual film, or studio for that matter. We’ll keep you posted when something official is announced. Underworld 4 arrives in theaters January 21, 2011.

AceShowbiz breaks it down:

…There is a chance that ““, the first film of the proposed new “Underworld” trilogy, is going to see a familiar face with rumored to be attached. Two sources have informed Bloody-Disgusting (BD) about the 36-year-old actress’ return to the series to reprise her Selene character.

In early August, it was reported that Screen Gems is moving ahead with a fourth “Underworld” film. The studio planned to shot the new movie in 3-D and is targeting a U.S. release on January 21, 2011. Soon thereafter, words were coming out that the studio was kicking off a brand new trilogy for the franchise. No word on whether director/producer Len Wiseman and actors , , and will return….

Here is the first film I saw Kate Beckinsale in, Much Ado About Nothing, versatile actress is Kate 🙂

This is part 4, go here to see the entire film, which is IMO fabulous

The Boat That Rocked – World Premiere and Official Full Trailer…

Courtesy of HDtoday:

In the late 1960s, American radio stations blasted rock and roll 24 hours a day. But in the home country of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, the only way 25 million people could hear their music was to tune into a boat.

Celebrated filmmaker Richard Curtis (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Bridget Joness Diary, Love Actually) brings the incredible story of a band of rogue deejays who captivated British radio listeners in the 60s, playing the music that defined a generation and boldly defying the government that tried to shut them down—The Boat That Rocked.

Leading the cast of the comedy are Academy Award® winner Philip Seymour Hoffman as Radio Rocks infamous deejay The Count; Bill Nighy as the stations owner (and ships captain), Quentin; Rhys Ifans as mystic deejay royalty Gavin; Nick Frost as the amorous, sarcastic disc jockey Dave; and Kenneth Branagh as the man out to silence Radio Rock, Minister Dormandy.
