Will the real ‘party of the people’ please stand up?

This is where the Emperor would reveal to Luke that it was his plan to have him give in to the dark side…Can I laugh maniacally now as a 22 yr Dem, and reveal I am so so happy that Michael Steele and the GOP are protecting Medicare from cuts? 🙂

The GOP with a heart!

Ooh oooh like the Schooner Tuna commercial from Mr Mom!!! Where Teri Garr convinces the Tuna Exec to temporarily cut prices during the recession! Michael Steele and the GOP will temporarily stop tightening Medicare until after the recession? I’ll buy that for a dollar!

Can you imagine being a Dem Critter and praising Obama’s planned 600 Billion in Medicare/Medicaid cuts? I mean it is the height of hypocrisy on its face. They have been blowin smoke. If they believed all the crxp they sold we Dems for 22 yrs they should NOT be trying to implement Orszag cuts. Why the hell were we wailing about GW cutting Medicare? Why the hell did they have me calling the Hill about that if they felt like it was a good idea?

That has been my problem with the entire Obama neo-prog reasoning all the way down the line. Jason Fuhrman his economic dude loves him some Walmart which the Dem leadership told us was Teh Evil (TM). Then we had Austan Goolsbee telling Canada ixnay on the AftaNay renegotiation while Obama ran around the 57 states saying NAFTA killed gazillions! of American jobs and it was somehow Hillary’s fault. And their intellectual elitism and snobbery is NOT the blue collar Democratic party of my youth…

I couldn’t give a rat’s axx how sharp the crease in my POTUS pants leg is, David Brooks, you and your Kathleen Parker ilk are attracted to Team Obama precisely because they are like you, snobs. Arrogant and convinced of their righteousness and convinced of the ignorance of America at large. I will take GW’s brush clearing and Big Dawg’s peccadilloes any day over the Smartest Effetes in the Room…

And of course the piece de resistance is Orszag and Zeke Emanuel’s cost curves which are not Democratic plans IMO. They are something I am uncomfortable with, thus my recent move to the right…

And as always when I do something, I really do it 🙂

Bottom line is the GOP is fighting to save Medicare from DEMS who are trying to cut it and that tells me I am on the right track with my current support of the GOP. The party may change but the motivation I am looking for is who is looking out for the people and the nation. We are the Worrrrrldddd….oops my lib youth rearing its ugly head, LOL!

BWAAAAHAAAA!!!!! and Huh? but mostly BWAAAAHAAA!!We are through the looking glass, everyone needs to rethink where they have been standing IMO and go with the peeps best supporting American ideals, which at present is the GOP IMO…

Keep rockin me baby.

Health care: Rep. Betsy Markey (D-CO) tells townhall attendees Medicare will be cut, “some people who are going to have to give up some things, honestly”…

Oh how lovely. What a tool. Please, please forward this and Karl Rove’s WSJ piece on Medicare Advantage cuts to every Senior you know…Guess she didn’t coordinate her message with Team TOTUS who keep swearing up and down Medicare won’t be cut…bizarre Congress we have here folks, just bizarre…or WAIT! Maybe this is part of their NEW STRATEGY! THE GREATER GOOD?! BWAAAHAAAA!!! frakkers, cutting care to our Seniors is NOT the greater good you tools!

Coloradoan.com:

Some people, including Medicare recipients, will have to give up some current benefits to truly reform the nation’s health-care system, Rep. Betsy Markey told a gathering of constituents in Fort Collins on Wednesday.

Markey has repeatedly said during the August congressional recess that Medicare spending needs to be reined in to help pay for reforming the broader health-care system.”There’s going to be some people who are going to have to give up some things, honestly, for all of this to work,” Markey said at a Congress on Your Corner event at CSU. “But we have to do this because we’re Americans.”…

The article goes on to say many attendees seem ‘supportive’ of the Obama Plan, guess they missed this on Aug 22nd outside Markey;s office:

Update: Dems killed amendment allowing reimportation of RXs from Canada…John Barrasso (R-WY, M.D.) on Medicare Advantage and TOTUS plans to kill it…

Update: From CQPolitics the real deal on who killed RXs from Canada:

In spite of its overwhelming focus on overhauling the health care system, the administration has been silent on one of Obama’s signature health care promises: allowing consumers to import drugs made in FDA-approved facilities in countries where they are often sold for less.

During the campaign, Obama charged that some drugmakers were exploiting Americans by charging premiums of as much as 67 percent higher than the prices they charge for the same medicines in Europe and Canada.

But Obama’s administration has since cut a deal with the pharmaceutical industry in which drugmakers promised to provide $80 billion in discounts to seniors and the government over 10 years to help pay the cost of a health system overhaul.

Here’s some more of that irony we referred to:

Ironically, Obama’s 2008 presidential opponent, Sen. John McCain , R-Ariz., offered an amendment during debate on a Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee health plan that would have written such an importation provision into law. Democrats helped defeat it by a 10-12 vote, arguing that allowing access to the cheaper drugs from abroad was potentially dangerous in light of all the hazards Americans have faced in recent months from risky imported products.

Courtesy of PoliticsNewsPolitics:

Barrasso, who is also a doctor, also defends Medicare Advantage plans or Medicare HMO’s, and at the same time takes Obama to task for double talk at town halls, telling people they can “keep the plan they have,” yet Obama admits he wants to eliminate Medicare HMO’s. They accomplish a lot of things “that Medicare doesn’t do,” he argues….

Barrasso is pointing out what Team TOTUS knows, there is NO BILL. That was part of their strategy. Daschle wanted his ABC Anything But Clinton method, with no bill so there would be limited time to criticize it. Well they got what they wanted. A mess. No leadership. ABC right neoprogs? STOP THE MEDICARE CUTS!

Every Senior I know is on Medicare Advantage or wants to be. It DOES cover many “ancillary” services not covered by Medicare, you know, vision, that sort of thing…Eliminating the $150m in Advantage will kill the plan. Especially in rural areas which are already without services…it IS a Medicare cut, period.

When we moderates were leading the party, we used to FIGHT MEDICARE CUTS. But silly me, now we are supposed to pat pharma on the back, block Canadian reimportation of RXS and gut Medicare and call that a victory according to the neoprogressives. Insane.

In other news Mike Ross (D-AR) leader of the Blue Dog coalition, the man who caved and let the HR3200 horror out of Waxman’s Energy Cmte, is on the record that he won’t vote for a bill that kills old people. What a maroon. Not sure if he is serious or facetious. He is the nincompoop who let it out of committee with the IMAC language in it and pgs 432 on which have the SHALL consultations, not MAY consultations, SHALL. That is a big difference in the law, ask any constitutional lawyer/community organizer.

Obama Healthcare Plan: Pushback on the Hill…Orszag’attacks’capitalism..Grassley fires back over proposed Medicare Advantage elimination…

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Airtime: Tues. Mar. 10 2009 | 4:18 AM ET

A preview of the Senate’s scrutiny of the President’s plan for healthcare reform…and discussing the administrations involvement in business, with Sen. Charles Grassley, Senate Finance Committe ranking member (R-IA).

What you mean it isn’t all, ‘the days of wine and roses’? You mean once the Kumbayah Summit is over some Critters begin to balk at Health Care restructuring aka Medicare Cuts??No!

What happened to the magical rainbow ponies that mean old Hillary just didn’t understand how to work with? What, you mean some Critters don’t want to cut Medicare when most of their voters are Seniors? Really? Gee whoudda thunk it??

You mean you can start out trying to do something good for America, and get twisted inside out upside down and then lambasted for it? No!

You don’t suppose someone will later use this against Team Obama and the Dems as an ‘overreach’ in an election do you?! Nahhhh, Hey at least fellow DEM candidates won’t use it against Team Obama, cause that would be wrong! What’s that you say? Obama used Harry and Louise ads against Hillary in the primaries, modeled after GOP arguments against UHC? GASP!

BWAAAAHAAAAAAHAAAAAA!!!!!

AND THEY ARE GAMBLING IN RICK’S PLACE! SHOCKAH!!

The Note:

…But, health care reform will happen in the halls of Congress, not at White House summits. And things were a bit more heated on Capitol Hill today when Obama’s Budget Director Peter Orzsag discussed health care reform with the Senate Finance Committee.

The budget proposed by the President, Grassley pointed out, would cut funding for Medicare Advantage programs by more than $170 billion. Seniors enrolled in Medicare Advantage programs account for nearly a quarter of all Medicare enrollees, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.

“Question, if we take $176 billion out of this Medicare Advantage program through plan bidding, how many of the ten million beneficiaries enrolled in Medicare Advantage do you estimate would lose their current coverage?” asked Grassley.

The budget director took the opportunity to “take a step back” and consider the entire logic behind the Medicare Advantage programs, which are subsidized by the government.

“First, I know many people believe that capitalism is founded on private markets, and it is.  But I very firmly believe that capitalism is not founded on excessively high subsidies to private firms.  That is what this system delivers right now,” said Orzsag. “For every Medicare beneficiary in Medicare Advantage, the federal government pay $1,000 more than covering the same beneficiary under traditional fee-for-service.  In addition, it is true that Medicare Advantage plans then take part of that extra payment and deliver it in the form of either additional benefits or lower premiums to beneficiaries.  But the data also suggests that every dollar of additional benefits costs the federal government $1.30 in cost.  So what we’re doing is we’re all paying $1.30 in order to deliver a dollar to a subset, 20 percent, of Medicare beneficiaries.  I don’t think that is competition.  I think that is an unwarranted subsidy.”

The attack on the programs, which Grassley has championed, drew a heated response from Grassley.

“Well, you’re going to take half of my time lecturing me on capitalism,” said an agitated Grassley, “Can you answer — can you answer my question about how many of the ten million beneficiaries enrolled would you estimate would lose?  And if you can’t give me a figure on the savings, how much comes from less enrollment versus less expenditures?  At least tell me how many of the ten million you think will go because, in 2007, your agency that you headed at that time said that it would cause plans to leave the program and it would effect my area of the country, rural America, more than urban America. So I want to make sure that we — if we have a national system of health care, it’s going to deliver the same thing in Iowa as it does in California.  Because, for 40 years, it didn’t.”
