When Doves Cry: GOP fights to save Medicare from Democratic cuts…

Yes we ARE through the looking glass. I don’t care WHO is standing up for Medicare as long as someone is standing tall dammit.

MAC has an amendment to stop the Medicare cuts. The Democrats plan to kill it. He is on Kudlow now, we will post it as soon as the video comes up. He wants Medicare left intact and a payroll tax cut!!  It is 500billion to start, that kind of cutting is going to HURT.

I am unwilling to throw the Baby Boomers under the bus to give 15 million people crappy coverage. The other 15 million can damn well take their axx to the Medicaid line like they do for Food Stamps and other assistance. I have been there, they don’t bite people. God helps those who help themselves.  Go sign up for the safety net that is available if you and your family need it.

Would I like to expand coverage? LOVE TO! Did I plan to do so under HRC? Damn yes BEFORE THE ECONOMIC MELTDOWN AND LOSS OF TRILLIONS AND THE HUGE GAPING MAW OF THE DEFICIT ! DOOM I SAY DEFICIT DOOM!!!

okay, back to the GOP fighting for Medicare:

Jon Kyl, U.S. Senate Republican Whip, speaking on the Senate floor in favor of the McCain Amendment that would prevent the cuts in Medicare outlined in the Senate ObamaCare bill. As it stands, the Democrats’ bill will cut at least $450 BILLION from Medicare in order to pay for their new government-run health care system. December 2, 2009.

WSJ:

The latest health-overhaul bill from the Senate will cost $829 billion over a decade and provide insurance coverage to 91% of U.S. residents, according to an analysis released Wednesday by the Congressional Budget Office.

The price tag for the Senate Finance Committee’s sweeping health bill is in line with President Barack Obama’s request that the overhaul cost about $900 billion over a decade and not add to the federal deficit. But the estimate of how far it will expand insurance coverage is lower than what Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D., Mont.) had initially targeted.

According to the CBO, the bill would reduce the federal budget deficit by $81 billion over 10 years.

The within-budget cost estimate paves the way for the Finance Committee to pass the overhaul bill as soon as this week, marking a significant step forward for the president’s top domestic priority. Senate leaders will then merge it with another bill, from the Senate health committee, before taking it to a vote on the Senate floor….

Update: Video – GOP wants gag order removed; CBO tells Senate panel Humana is right & TOTUS is wrong (lies?!): Medicare Advantage benefits will be reduced under Baucus Bill…

Doug Elmendorf still hanging tough and telling the truth. I love this guy. He says today yes Medicare Advantage benefits are likely to be reduced. Gee guess Humana is in good company with CBO on their mailer then aren’t they? CMS and HHS better back the hexx off Humana then.

“It is wholly inappropriate for insurance companies to mislead seniors regarding any subject—particularly on a subject as important to them, and to the nation, as health-care reform,” Mr. Baucus said in a statement yesterday, playing the role of Congressional censor. “The health-care reform bill we released last week strengthens Medicare and does not cut benefits covered under the Medicare program—and seniors need to know that.”

In fact, the Baucus draft legislation slashes $123 billion over the next decade from Medicare Advantage, which Democrats hate despite the fact that almost one-fourth of beneficiaries have chosen it over traditional fee-for-service Medicare. One reason seniors like it is because private insurers focus on quality and preventive care and try to manage benefits, as opposed to simply paying bills.

100 BILLION they plan to cut from Medicare Advantage. OF COURSE the plans will drop out and/or cut bennies. So no more eye exam or hearing exam for you Granny! Tell your Seniors!

AP:

Congress’ chief budget officer is contradicting President Barack Obama’s oft-stated claim that seniors wouldn’t see their Medicare benefits cut under a health care overhaul. The head of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, Douglas Elmendorf, told senators Tuesday that seniors in Medicare’s managed care plans would see reduced benefits under a bill in the Finance Committee.

The bill would cut payments to the Medicare Advantage plans by more than $100 billion over 10 years.

Elmendorf said the changes would reduce the extra benefits that would be made available to beneficiaries.

Will the real ‘party of the people’ please stand up?

This is where the Emperor would reveal to Luke that it was his plan to have him give in to the dark side…Can I laugh maniacally now as a 22 yr Dem, and reveal I am so so happy that Michael Steele and the GOP are protecting Medicare from cuts? 🙂

The GOP with a heart!

Ooh oooh like the Schooner Tuna commercial from Mr Mom!!! Where Teri Garr convinces the Tuna Exec to temporarily cut prices during the recession! Michael Steele and the GOP will temporarily stop tightening Medicare until after the recession? I’ll buy that for a dollar!

Can you imagine being a Dem Critter and praising Obama’s planned 600 Billion in Medicare/Medicaid cuts? I mean it is the height of hypocrisy on its face. They have been blowin smoke. If they believed all the crxp they sold we Dems for 22 yrs they should NOT be trying to implement Orszag cuts. Why the hell were we wailing about GW cutting Medicare? Why the hell did they have me calling the Hill about that if they felt like it was a good idea?

That has been my problem with the entire Obama neo-prog reasoning all the way down the line. Jason Fuhrman his economic dude loves him some Walmart which the Dem leadership told us was Teh Evil (TM). Then we had Austan Goolsbee telling Canada ixnay on the AftaNay renegotiation while Obama ran around the 57 states saying NAFTA killed gazillions! of American jobs and it was somehow Hillary’s fault. And their intellectual elitism and snobbery is NOT the blue collar Democratic party of my youth…

I couldn’t give a rat’s axx how sharp the crease in my POTUS pants leg is, David Brooks, you and your Kathleen Parker ilk are attracted to Team Obama precisely because they are like you, snobs. Arrogant and convinced of their righteousness and convinced of the ignorance of America at large. I will take GW’s brush clearing and Big Dawg’s peccadilloes any day over the Smartest Effetes in the Room…

And of course the piece de resistance is Orszag and Zeke Emanuel’s cost curves which are not Democratic plans IMO. They are something I am uncomfortable with, thus my recent move to the right…

And as always when I do something, I really do it 🙂

Bottom line is the GOP is fighting to save Medicare from DEMS who are trying to cut it and that tells me I am on the right track with my current support of the GOP. The party may change but the motivation I am looking for is who is looking out for the people and the nation. We are the Worrrrrldddd….oops my lib youth rearing its ugly head, LOL!

BWAAAAHAAAA!!!!! and Huh? but mostly BWAAAAHAAA!!We are through the looking glass, everyone needs to rethink where they have been standing IMO and go with the peeps best supporting American ideals, which at present is the GOP IMO…

Keep rockin me baby.
