Obama and Dems creating hostile environment for job creation and investment say Obama supporters Business Roundtable

Another great moment in stating the obvious brought to you by some of the SOOPERGENIUSES that gave us Obama:

WashingtonPost:

The chairman of the Business Roundtable, an association of top corporate executives that has been President Obama‘s closest ally in the business community, accused the president and Democratic lawmakers Tuesday of creating an “increasingly hostile environment for investment and job creation.”

Ivan G. Seidenberg, chief executive of Verizon Communications, said that Democrats in Washington are pursuing tax increases, policy changes and regulatory actions that together threaten to dampen economic growth and “harm our ability . . . to grow private-sector jobs in the U.S.”

“In our judgment, we have reached a point where the negative effects of these policies are simply too significant to ignore,” Seidenberg said in a lunchtime speech to the Economic Club of Washington. “By reaching into virtually every sector of economic life, government is injecting uncertainty into the marketplace and making it harder to raise capital and create new businesses.”…(go read it all!)

TOTUS: Stranger in a Strange Land…

Seven months in and it is becoming more clear that the President does not ‘feel’ (for lack of a better word) as many mainstream Americans do, their Americanness. (Mainstream here defined as regular middle class Everyman, ie Joes and Ginas):

By Americanness, I mean what (and who) we believe we are and aspire to be and become,  individually and collectively, mostly individually,  in our great ‘collective cultural consciousness’. This includes what we expect in our ‘style’ of governance if you will, ie how the government interacts with us, the people.

As we have said here repeatedly, the sweeping mandate for changes, large and small, mostly large, across all spectrums of our society from the top down, that Team TOTUS imagines they were given, simply does not exist. The people have waited patiently through the love affair with the MSM for the Obama Administration to get grounded and begin to govern what they were given, not remake the government into its own image.

In polls (see here and especially here) and town halls (and in polls about townhalls!), a majority of Americans are demonstrating, loudly, that they want no more CHANGE writ large in Obama’s name for time immemorial across our economy or culture for the foreseeable future. This is not a race into history. You are already in the books, now you need to do the daily job.

Not the glorious landmark legislation, but the daily nitty gritty that keeps the wheels of the giant bureaucracy running (hint: it isn’t cash, it is hard work and the faith the American people put in you that gets it done)

Get back to business. The people’s business.

WSJ op:

…The president has a problem. For, despite a great election victory, Mr. Obama, it becomes ever clearer, knows little about Americans. He knows the crowds—he is at home with those. He is a stranger to the country’s heart and character.

He seems unable to grasp what runs counter to its nature. That Americans don’t take well, for instance, to bullying, especially of the moralizing kind, implicit in those speeches on health care for everybody. Neither do they wish to be taken where they don’t know they want to go and being told it’s good for them.

Who would have believed that this politician celebrated, above all, for his eloquence and capacity to connect with voters would end up as president proving so profoundly tone deaf? A great many people is the answer—the same who listened to those speeches of his during the campaign, searching for their meaning.

It took this battle over health care to reveal the bloom coming off this rose, but that was coming. It began with the spectacle of the president, impelled to go abroad to apologize for his nation—repeatedly. It is not, in the end, the demonstrators in those town-hall meetings or the agitations of his political enemies that Mr. Obama should fear. It is the judgment of those Americans who have been sitting quietly in their homes, listening to him.

Note: Not being a Presidential Historian I cannot say who, but there may well have been prior POTUS’ that had a more Eurocentric or ‘other’ ie nonAmerican worldview, however I note here that the discontent of the populace is IMO largely a nerve rubbed raw by countless apologies, perceived slights to our country and our countrymen by our Chief Executive and Commander of our Armed Services while abroad, and an insistence upon clinging, dare I say bitterly? lol, to a preconceived plan of how to remake America, despite a total change in circumstance, namely the economic collapse and subsequent run up in the deficit which frankly preclude these plans right now and for at least the next few years.

Americans know it, now TOTUS has to accept it. And his economic advisers need to tell him the deal. You can’t do all the big spending plans now, it has to wait, there is no money, yeah yeah it isn’t your fault, it happened before you, guess what? It isn’t our fault either. Shxt happens. It is what it is and what it is is NOT an all clear to rebuild Rome (in a day or a 4 year term). Just manage the provinces , keep the clean water flowing through the aquaducts and pave the great roads m’kay?
