Obama calls in the Big Dawg to tame big business fears as Chamber of Commerce Open Letter to Obama and America released…

BWAAAAFRAKKINHAAAAA!!! John Harwood on CNBC is reporting Obama is bringing in BIG DAWG!!! to meet with him with the business leaders~!! BWAAAAHAAAA!! Frakkin maroons shouldve voted for HRC or MAC Palin.
Politico has it:

Former President Clinton returns to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. on Wednesday to meet with President Obama, Vice President Biden and business leaders, the White House announced. They will “discuss new ways to create jobs in the private sector and strengthen the partnership between the public and private sectors to make new investments in the clean energy industry,” according to White House guidance.

The meeting, at 2:35 p.m., is closed press.

WSJ:

Washington’s major business groups plan a united front Wednesday in their confrontation with the Obama administration over economic policy, calling on the White House to cut taxes and curb its regulatory agenda.

Business groups including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Business Roundtable and the National Federation of Independent Businesses will air a list of concerns about government policy at a “Jobs for America Summit” at the Chamber’s offices Wednesday. The Chamber will issue an open letter to President Barack Obama asking that the administration cut taxes, act on pledges to expand export markets, and streamline government rules…

Summit participants include legislators with leadership roles on business-related congressional committees, including Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.); Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.); Rep. Melissa Bean (D-Ill.); and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.).

Also attending from the administration side are Erskine Bowles, President Bill Clinton’s chief of staff and former Wyoming Sen. Alan Simpson (R)—the two men co-chair Mr. Obama’s National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform.

“There’s a lot more unanimity than you may have seen over the past year” among business leaders, particularly in their opposition to tax and regulatory policy, said Stan Anderson, executive director of the chamber’s Campaign for Free Enterprise, which promotes its job-creation policies….

Read the Letter here-PDF JOBS FOR AMERICA:

Excerpt:

Working together, we succeeded in stabilizing the economy and
preventing another depression. But once accomplished, the congressional
leadership and the administration took their eyes off the ball.

They neglected America’s number one priority—creating the more than 20 million jobs we need over the next 10 years for those who lost their jobs, have left the job market, or were cut to part-time status—as well as new entrants into our
workforce.

Instead of continuing their partnership with the business community and embracing proven ideas for job creation, they vilified industries while embarking on an ill-advised course of government expansion, major tax increases, massive deficits, and job-destroying regulations.

This approach has failed to return our economy to a path of robust
growth, which is a critical prerequisite to significant private sector job
growth.

In some cases, wrong policy choices are actually eliminating good job opportunities for American workers. By straying from the proven principles of American free enterprise, policymakers are needlessly prolonging the economic agony of the recession for millions of Americans and their families…

Geithner: Yes, taxes are going up, yes that includes cap gains and dividends

Update: Several well respected prognosticators are positively giddy at the notion of a 20/20 cap on cap gains/dividend rates. They take this from the Geithner interview below.
Again the DENIAL is astounding! The 20/20 is the FLOOR not the ceiling! Let’s say Tim is forthright with his statement that 20/20 is what Obama will propose on cap gains/dividends (which is s 5% hike from where we are now). Recall the Deficit Commission report is due December. I fully expect it to propose SS Medicare taxes on investment income. So start with 20/20, then add what 10? 15% for SS Medicare, then add the Obamacare taxes on investment income.
Get a Grip! No moderation in economic policy is forthcoming. This is Obama and Pelosi. Taxes are going up across the board, Obama will not stop. VOTE.
Vodpod videos no longer available.
Larry Kudlow has THE interview with Geithner. After this there is absolutely no excuse for delusions that Obama will suddenly find his inner capitalist and embrace pro growth economic policies. All of our taxes are going up across the board.

It is my opinion that Obama believes the US is too big and uses too many global resources. He is actively and deliberately seeking out and implementing policies that reduce the American standard of living, that is a feature not a bug. I believe he sees it as his duty to ‘correct’ what he thinks America has ‘done’ to the world and to restore balance as he sees it.

He does not believe in GROWING the pie a la Big Dawg. He is going to take pieces from us and give them to the rest of the world and those select groups who he either envisions as oppressed by our success, or who assist him. Period.

Take the blinders off folks. Smart money is IMO moving its income to 2010 and taking the tax hit now then focusing on CAPITAL PRESERVATION as Obama continues to roll out wealth destroying business killing middle class crushing policies. He will not stop.

VOTE.

Dems to raise excise tax on middle class health care benefits *HIGHER STILL* to win CBO score…

Mashup by rx2008

Not enough to break your word and tax the middle class, they want to raise it HIGHER to get their ‘good’ CBO score. And of course their BOSS, Richard Trumka of AFL CIO has to say ok. Frak we middle class workers not in a union right Nancy?

Is it November yet?

Ben Smith has it at Politico:

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka is headed into a meeting with President Obama this afternoon after the White House and Congressional leaders have begun to discuss a higher-than-expected excise tax on some health care plans, in order to maintain their claim that health care legislation will reduce the deficit, a source involved in health care talks said.

Any unexpected change to the health care plan could endanger support for the bill from labor, which agreed to back it after reductions to the planned excise tax. Proposed new changes, I’m told, concern cuts to the rate at which increases to the tax exemption cap are indexed.

Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead: Plouffe called back to WH, says Obama must ‘fight like hell’, pass the hated health care bill and ‘pass politically difficult measures’ aka cutting Social Security, raising taxes….

And they’re off! It’s like the charge of the stupid brigade. As we have been predicting time immemorial, here come the SS cuts and tax increases. Obama is ready to focus like a laser, lol, on the deficit, BWAAAAHAA *cough cough*, and David ‘every fundraising email I send is an attack on Hillary or Sarah’ Plouffe has been called back to the fold to bravely lead Obama to the correct path for electoral victory…

So where does David suggest we begin? By ramming through the DESPISED health care bill of course! Followed by passing ‘politically difficult measures’, can you say ‘cutting Gen Xs Social Security’ and raising taxes?, cuz I can!’

David Plouffe in the WaPo:

…We still have much to do before November, and time is running short. Every race has unique characteristics, but there are a few general things that Democrats can do to strengthen our hand.

Pass a meaningful health insurance reform package without delay. Americans’ health and our nation’s long-term fiscal health depend on it. I know that the short-term politics are bad….

…That’s why Democrats must create a strong foundation for long-term growth by addressing health care, energy and education reform.

(MiM-Yeah b/c it’s not like every single speech of Obama’s has focused on health care, education or energy before now right? oh yeah)

…We must also show real leadership by passing some politically difficult measures to help stabilize the economy in the short term. Voters are always smarter than they are given credit for. We need to make our case on the economy and jobs — and yes, we can remind voters where Republican policies led us — and if we do, without apology and with force, it will have impact….

Great without apology and with force, this is just who Obama needs now! Someone to tell him DAMN THE TORPEDOES AND FULL SPEED AHEAD!! Passing ‘politically difficult measures’ gee wonder what that could mean…

Make sure voters understand what the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act did for the economy

See there is that patronizing BS again, we just don’t UNDERSTAND how WONDERFUL the 700 billion dollar boondoggle was! So the UE rate is still climbing and at 10% really is a sign of the success of the stimulus! It is apparently just a matter of enlightenment waiting to happen if they find just the right words, or tone in delivery of another greatest speech evah…Satori awaits us America! they just need a good Zen Koan….

Don’t accept any lectures on spending…(MiM- OMG cannot even begin to fisk this one)..We have potent talking points on health care, honest budgeting and cuts in previously sacrosanct programs.

Yeah David! Talk up how your guy tried to GUT 500 BILLION from Medicare, a previously SACROSANCT program, that’ll really turn the voters back to you! See he thinks it is GOOD, they are gonna double down and gut SS Im a tellin ya!

Plouffe also makes it really clear it is time to gin up the machine and get a few million more from ‘donors’ like DooDadPro and organize those ‘first time’voters, y’uh -huh..ACORN/SEIU/Soros they are calling you-uuuuuuu

…Our campaigns can leave no stone unturned, from believing in the power of grass-roots volunteers and voter registration, to using technology and data innovatively, to raising money –– especially with big corporate interests now freed up to dump hundreds of millions of dollars to elect those who will do their bidding. Democratic candidates must do everything well. Each one must make sure that the first-time voters from 2008 living in your state or district — more than 15 million nationwide — are in their sights. Build a relationship with those voters, organize them and educate them. On Nov. 3, many races are sure to be decided by just a few thousand if not a few hundred votes. These voters can make the difference. …

Yeah those ‘voters’ certainly made a difference in those Dem caucuses fer shure.

His next message is don’t let those millions of pixxed off Americans screaming STOP! get in the way:

Boehner: Medicare Advantage *WILL* be cut, <200k *WILL* be taxed…

Courtesy of Rep. Boehner:

In an interview on Foxs Your World with Neil Cavuto, House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) discussed the costly government takeover of the health care system that includes a litany of new tax increases, over $500 billion in cuts to Medicare for millions of seniors and the Obama Administrations recent gag order designed to keep seniors in the dark about the potential reductions in Medicare services. Leader Boehner once again called on the President and Democrats to scrap their costly proposal and work Republicans to create a bipartisan bill that improves the current system.

When is an insurance mandate not a tax? When Obama says so!

Politico:

On ABC’s “This Week,” George Stephanopoulos has a pretty testy exchange with Obama over whether the individual mandate is a tax increase. The president insists it is not.

Obama:  “For us to say that you’ve got to take a responsibility to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase. What it’s saying is, is that we’re not going to have other people carrying your burdens for you anymore than the fact that right now everybody in America, just about, has to get auto insurance. Nobody considers that a tax increase. … George, you — you can’t just make up that language and decide that that’s called a tax increase.”

Stephanopoulos: “I don’t think I’m making it up. Merriam Webster’s Dictionary: Tax — ‘a charge, usually of money, imposed by authority on persons or property for public purposes.'”

Obama: “George, the fact that you looked up Merriam’s Dictionary, the definition of tax increase, indicates to me that you’re stretching a little bit right now.  Otherwise, you wouldn’t have gone to the
dictionary to check on the definition”

Stephanopoulos: “But you reject that it’s a tax increase?”

Obama: “I absolutely reject that notion.”

Here TOTUS  ‘lashes out’ at Hill for her MANDATE! FORCE INDIVIDUALS TO PURCHASE HEALTH CARE, Sounds familiar, it is Obamas current plan that is why…

So all throughout the Dem primaries Obama kept flailing away at Hill for her MANDATE. He called it a penalty- a tax- a fine- a wage garnishment. This morning on George Snuggleupagus he says it is NOT A TAX (anymore apparently lol)..

Do you feel ‘brought together’ yet? KUMBAYAH…..

Negotiating behind closed doors like he did with PhaRma? NOTHING ON CSPAN BUDDY!

Update: Alert to the Country: They are coming for our soda- CALL CONGRESS NOW, SAY NO TO SODA TAX!!!

Update: Here is TOTUS pushing his soda TAX. Funny he didn’t give a frak about obese kids when MEchelle worked for Treehouse Foods now did he? courtesy American Spec:

In an interview with Men’s Health published Monday, President Obama suggested that a tax on such items as soda and sugary drinks should be put on the table, saying “I actually think it’s an idea that we should be exploring.”

Oh good, this means the kids juice boxes too. INSANITY!!! Did the WH miss the backlash Paterson got in NY when he tried this??

Obama then acknowledged the political reality of enacting such taxes while providing a glimpse of where he personally stands on the issue:  Look, people’s attitude is that they don’t necessarily want Big Brother telling them what to eat or drink, and I understand that. It is true, though, that if you wanted to make a big impact on people’s health in this country, reducing things like soda consumption would be helpful….

OMG, can’t we even have a damn Coca Cola!!! (or for my mom Pepsi!)

Are you listening OBOTS!! You drink RED BULL ALL DAY DON’T YOU???!!!

Market Mover: Weekly jobless claims come in above expectations, 4 week average rises; Dems turn to tax hikes in healthcare plan…

Update: Retail sales are in, mixed bag, low end discounters did well, high end stumbled as expected.

wall-street2

Well the weekly numbers fell 4000 but the 4 week average ROSE 4000. Manyana is the big monthly jobs report…so far we have a jobless recovery in the cards…

CNBC:

Initial claims for state unemployment insurance benefits fell 4,000 to a seasonally adjusted 570,000 in the week ended Aug. 29 from an upwardly revised 574,000 the prior week, the Labor Department said.

Analysts polled by Reuters had forecast new claims falling to 560,000 last week from a previously reported 570,000. U.S. stock index futures pared gains after the report, while government bond prices trimmed losses.

“At this point, with all the stimulus money as well as seasonal factors, we should be seeing the jobless number below 500,000. This is looking more and more like a jobless recovery,” said Todd Schoenberger, Managing Director at Landcolt Trading in San Antonio, Texas.

The number of people collecting long-term unemployment benefits rose 92,000 to 6.23 million in the week ended Aug. 22, the latest week for which the data is available, indicating that companies remained reluctant to expand payrolls, despite an improvement in the economy’s outlook. That was well above market expectations for 6.12 million….

But don’t fret I am sure the DEMS RETURN TO FRAKKIN TAX HIKES TO PAY FOR health care will help jobs, in fact if they focus NEW TAXES ON HOUSING that will help the economy right? right? Bueller? Yeah WRONG!! uhm NOT! MAROONS I TELL YOU!!!

WSJ:

Senate Democrats are revisiting proposals to raise taxes on high-income people to help pay for an overhaul of the health-care system. The main proposal getting renewed attention is one by President Barack Obama that would limit the federal tax deductions for higher-income families for mortgage interest and other widely claimed purposes, said two senior Senate Democratic aides.

…Mr. Obama contends frequently that his plan would merely level the playing field, because itemized tax deductions currently are more valuable for higher-income earners than for lower-income earners. But critics say the Obama administration’s overall tax plan unfairly hits higher earners, noting that the White House also plans to raise the top income-tax rates to 39.6% and 36% for families making $250,000 and up. The top rates currently are 35% and 33%. Some key interest groups, such as the real-estate industry, some charities and state and local governments, are also likely to oppose limiting deductions for high earners.

And another tax raises its ugly head, They are REALLY CLUELESS:

Many House Democrats have lined up behind another approach: placing a surtax on higher-income earners. The surtax would be imposed on a taxpayer’s adjusted gross income — that is, income before deductions are taken out.

Senate Democrats also are considering revamping a plan to tax costly health plans so that it would focus on high earners. Under the original proposal, a hefty excise tax would be imposed on high-cost, employer-sponsored health-care coverage — so-called gold-plated plans — in an effort to force employers and insurers to hold down costs, thereby reducing overall spending. That idea ran into opposition from labor unions, which feared it would hit their middle-class members.

The UNIONS BETTER BE INCLUDED!!!
