HBO has announced that the third season of its racy, sexy and gory True Blood series is set to premiere on June 13.
Returning to Bon Temps, Louisiana are series regulars Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Sam Trammell, Ryan Kwanten and Rutina Wesley. New additions this year include Denis O’Hare, Marshall Allman, Kevin Alejandro, Theo Alexander, Grant Bowler, Joe Manganiello, Lindsay Pulsipher, Brit Morgan and Cooper Huckabee, J. Smith-Cameron and Alfre Woodard.
…. One thing that series producer Alan Ball has revealed is that the background of Sam and his ability to shapeshift will be explored….
…As well, a fourth season of the show has been guaranteed by the cable channel.
…During the (Paley Ctr) panel held in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 28, creator Alan Ball and other writers such as Raelle Tucker and Alexander Woo came out with a lot of spoilers for the new season.
First thing first, Ball answered the question about season 2’s cliffhanger where Bill was abducted by an unknown person. Ball spilled that fans need not wait long because it will be revealed immediately in the first episode. Another juicy spoiler would be shirtless Eric. “Alexander Skarsgard appears without most of his clothes in the very first episode of season 3,” Ball revealed.
OH AWESOME!! Readers of the books know what that likely means!! Sookie finding Eric wandering on a road naked with amnesia perhaps?! YOWSA! And Debbie Pelt is coming, oh that evil Debbie!

Sooo awesome! Charlaine Harris is writing like nobody’s business and keeping we fans happy 🙂
Two more releases coming from Harris this fall, the stand alone collection of the short stories that take part in the Southern Vampire/Sookie Stackhouse Series, ‘A Touch of Dead’ will be released October 6, 2009 and Book 4 of the ‘Harper Connelly’ series arrives a few weeks later on October 27th.
‘A Touch of Dead’ looks as though they have gathered the Sookie stories from the previously published pieces in fantasy/scifi anthologies and put them in one convenient place in this release. If this is the case, there is a GREAT shortstory about Sookie and a were on the run in there, it was released originally as part of the Birthday stories in ‘Many Bloody Returns’:
And in the ‘Harper Connelly’ series, Novel 4 ‘Grave Secret’ will be released on October 27, 2009:
From Amazon, again no plot details published yet. At MiM we read quite a bit of Charlaine’s work, and although Sookie is our favorite by far, Harper comes in a close third, right behind Lily Bard, the heroine of the Shakespeare series (the Lily Bard- Shakespeare series is a mystery series but is non-supernatural, if you are a mystery fan Charlaine also writes the Aurora Teagarden mysteries. Charlaine is a PROLIFIC author!!!):
Now an HBO original series, True Blood—the New York Times bestselling Sookie Stackhouse series continues. Except for Sookie Stackhouse, folks in Bon Temps, Louisiana, know little about vamps—and nothing about weres. Until now. The weres and shifters have finally decided to reveal their existence to the ordinary world. At first all goes well. Then the mutilated body of a were-panther is found near the bar where Sookie works—and she feels compelled to discover who, human or otherwise, did it. But there’s a far greater danger threatening Bon Temps. A race of unhuman beings—older, more powerful, and more secretive than vampires or werewolves—is preparing for war. And Sookie finds herself an all-too human pawn in their battle.
The first season of HBO’s hit series, True Blood is coming to DVD on May 19th. Here’s a sneak peak at the collection. All 12 episodes from the first season–including “Strange Love,” “The First Taste,” “Burning House of Love,” “To Love Is to Bury,” and “You’ll Be the Death of Me”–are featured in a five-disc set. 12 hrs. total.
