Wii lightsaber: okay they got me. Wii is now on the Holiday shopping list…
Okay, they got me. I ignored the sporty games but now they have a LIGHTSABER. Oh yeah baby. The little one will be ecstatic too, lol. They lowered the price and now a lightsaber, how much can mere mortal woman resist??
Just in time for the release of Star Wars Clone Troopers: Republic Heroes comes a Wii lightsaber! You snap the Wiimote into the handle, flick on the stubby battery-powered LED blade, strike bad guys down in your anger, and desperately hope that no one walks in on you while you’re playing. It comes in Anakin blue and Yoda green, for $20 each, or the pair for $35.

(…)It’s a tie-in to the horror-themed Star Wars novel Death Troopers, which will be published in mid-October ….And in case you’re wondering just what the deal is with Death Troopers, it’s about a prison barge that finds a derelict Star Destroyer full of zombies. No joke.

ABOUT THIS BOOK
When the Imperial prison barge Purge–temporary home to five hundred of the galaxy’s most ruthless killers, rebels, scoundrels, and thieves–breaks down in a distant, uninhabited part of space, its only hope appears to lie with a Star Destroyer found drifting, derelict, and seemingly abandoned. But when a boarding party from the Purge is sent to scavenge for parts, only half of them come back–bringing with them a horrific disease so lethal that within hours nearly all aboard the Purge die in ways too hideous to imagine.
And death is only the beginning.
The Purge’s half-dozen survivors–two teenage brothers, a sadistic captain of the guards, a couple of rogue smugglers, and the chief medical officer, the lone woman on board–will do whatever it takes to stay alive. But nothing can prepare them for what lies waiting aboard the Star Destroyer amid its vast creaking emptiness that isn’t really empty at all. For the dead are rising: soulless, unstoppable, and unspeakably hungry.

More after the break:
Update: Issa says Fed in cover up, Bernanke to testify under subpoena..Market Mover: FOMC Decision and Statement…
Update 3: CNBC has the Issa story up here
Update 2: Dow as up 50 and now up 7 since FED announcement. I think the market is also scared shxt of what will happen as Congress goes after the Fed…that Issa announcement was simultaneous with the FED decision…
Update: Fed stands pat, rate unchanged, will maintain low rates for extended period (love you long time), removed the line about DE-flation, good finally! but NO EXIT STRATEGY. Bond rates up a bit as prices down a bit. Nothing in the stmt backed off quantitative easing at all, they reaffirmed it. If you are looking at it as a foreign holder of our debt, I see nothing here to reassure you, which to me suggests higher rates a comin’ from Bond Vigilantes…
Right before the announcement Darryl Issa R-CA came on CNBC backing a statement his office released saying Ben Bernanke and the FED had concealed concerns about the Merill BofA deal from OTHER REGULATORS, and Ben is appearing under subpoena to answer questions.
Not a good thing for market stability and as a shareholder I am biased on this. But if it is what I think it is, i think Bernanke and Paulson kept Sheila Bair and the FDIC in the dark on the potential losses for BofA if Merrill deal went thru..
if it helps FDIC get some of the power Team TOTUS is trying to give to the Fed (which will then promptly be given to Larry Summers in Jan) then I am all for it. the FDIC is the only regulator on the ball and Sheila Bair was warning about subprime exposure of broad market losses way ahead of everyone else…
anyway that is a WOW announcement that was buried in the FED release..Towns is trying to stop investigation into Countrywide VIP loans for Dodd and Conrad, but Issa is pushing as he can….
Best Market Lesson I ever Learned: DONT FIGHT THE FED*
The Force is With Them: Star Wars fan donates kidney to fellow stormtrooper….
A Star Wars fan got help in the battle for his life from a stormtrooper: Specifically, a Long Island resident and member of the fan club known as the 501st Legion, CBS reported.

Jeff Romanoff is also part of the Philadelphia fan club that puts on costumes from the films for charity. He met Eric Seemann, a fellow 501st member from Long Island, at a convention.
See that, lives are saved as a result of scifi conventions, knew that must somehow be true :0)
Seemann later learned that Romanoff was suffering from cancer and needed a kidney transplant to survive. Seemann got tested and learned he was a perfect match.
Ten years ago, Seemann’s brother donated his kidney to a family member, and two years ago, his mother was diagnosed with leukemia. That was all the motivation he needed to donate his own kidney to Romanoff. They underwent the life-saving surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio….
Long long ago,
in a galaxy far far away,
there is a place called Singapore which celebrates St. Patrick’s Day. This is the 3rd year that 501st Legion Singapore Garrison is participating. Even with a heavy downpour, the troops still marched on with pride.
Learn more about the 501st Legion on StarWars.com:
…”I think it’s important the public learn from the service-minded example the 501st sets,” Legion founder Albin Johnson says. “If more people gave back to their communities while enjoying their hobbies, the world would be a much better place. Our club engenders a positive attitude of giving, not just taking. We actually gain from our friendships and the work we do. That’s a unique experience few other hobbies can boast.”
The 501st Legion contributes time and money to numerous charities including Ronald McDonald House, Toys-for-Tots, Make-a-Wish, Candle Lighters Fund, and the Jimmy Fund. Each garrison has also visited countless hospitals, daycare centers, schools and community centers to entertain children throughout the U.S. and around the world.

In addition to their charity work, 501st members have extremely varied and important careers. “We have our share of IT specialists, software engineers and librarians,” 501st.com webmaster and Carolina Garrison member Dean Plantamura says. “But we are also lawyers, fashion models, ex-rollerderby stars, police officers, professional divers, pyro-technicians, butchers, teachers, air traffic controllers, nurses, social workers, security officers, musicians, accountants, graphic designers, illustrators, postal workers, helicopter pilots, pediatricians, dentists, nuclear plant operators, bankers, meteorologists, crime scene investigators, firefighters, DJs, paramedics, airplane mechanics, ex-pro wrestlers, actors, video game designers, stay-at-home moms, small business owners, chimney sweeps, archeologists, as well as many members who are currently serving in the Armed Forces.”…
A few of the garrison went bowling to benefit Make a Wish.
