SciFiWire got awesome scoopage from the cast at The Paley Center too:
“A Few Good Men” features major information about Isobel, Elena’s birth mother and Alaric’s (Matthew Davis) murdered wife. Flashbacks show what Isobel was up to while married to Alaric. Elena traces a chain of creepy characters up to Isobel herself. Damon even flat-out taunts Alaric in public.
“The first one back is pretty killer, because there’s a lot of new information revealed for our characters that’s going to take us all the way through to the end of the season,” Plec said in a group interview on the red carpet. “Alaric and Elena and Damon all learn something pretty earth-shattering about Elena’s birth mother, and crazy things happen between Alaric and Damon that sets up a rivalry for them for a long time.” Indeed, Alaric fights Damon in the episode.
‘Uncle John’:
The big new casting is Alias, Heroes and 24‘s David Anders as Jonathan Gilbert, to whom Williamson lovingly refers as Uncle John. He will be seen in subsequent episodes.
“I’m a big fan of David Anders,” Williamson said. “He’s proving to be really exciting. He’s also someone who can really go up against Damon. The scenes between Ian and David Anders are a lot of fun to watch, because it really is quid pro quo.”
Uncle John isn’t just a force of conflict for the Salvatore family. He shakes things up with the young Gilberts, too.
“Uncle John is going to sort of come in and stir things up for Damon and, oddly enough, Jeremy,” Williamson said. “So I think Jeremy and his relationship with Anna now that he’s going to learn—”
Afraid of spoiling too much, Williamson turned to Plec to finish that comment. “The Gilbert legacy dating back to the original Jonathan Gilbert back in 1864 has been very much about finding and destroying vampires in Mystic Falls,” Plec said. “So [Jonathan is] putting Jeremy into that situation where he has the option to follow his family footsteps or not.”
Damon & Stefan deal with Katherine issues: (continues after the break):
Nina Dobrev talks about her character, Elena. Paul Wesley talks about Stephan’s future with Elena. Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley discuss their characters’ rivalry.

…Dimension Films just gave the go-ahead to Scream 4, which will shoot this spring with a release date of April 12, 2011, Variety reported. And not only will Craven direct, but he’ll be bringing back the stars of the first three films in the franchise—Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox Arquette— though they’ll be joined by fresher meat (that is, a group of younger actors).
The original Scream grossed more than $170 million worldwide in 1996; Scream 2 also took in more than $170 million in 1997 and Scream 3 topped $160 million when it was released in 2000.
Dimension Films chief Bob Weinstein said, “Scream has been such an integral part of Dimension’s history, and I look forward to continuing the franchise.”…
Courteney Cox-Arquette can’t wait to start shooting “Scream 4” – because it will be romantic. The actress met her husband David Arquette on the set of the original ‘Scream’ movie in 1996, and thinks the horror movie will bring out the pair’s loving nature. She said: “I’m very excited. It will be fun. David and I are going to be right back on the set where we first met. It’s going to be so exciting for us in many ways.” Courteney’s character, TV reporter Gale Weathers, will have a child with Deputy Dewey Riley – played by David – in the film…
But how far along in the process are we??? Conflicting reports. Courteney is ready to go and Kevin Williamson is looking at writing but no one has nailed down Wes!!!
...Now it seems Kevin is working on a fourth which will be the first in a new trilogy. Wes Craven at a press conference said, “Actually, I received a call about that for the first time the other day… obviously, I’ve been asked about that for a long, long time… I think that it’s not completely off the table at this point, as far as the studio making it. I was asked if I’d be interested, but I said it would depend on the script. [Scream 4] isn’t something that’s around the corner or anything, they are now thinking about it.”As far as the script goes with Kevin behind the pencil once again, Wes might be a shoe in. Courtney Cox said on a recent press tour, “I heard the idea for Scream 4, and it’s fantastic. She has a kid now. She’s married to Dewey.”
Some aren’t so keen on the idea. On Kevin’s Twitter page, he posted “Trying to figure out a Sid-less scenario. She won’t do it. This sucks,” so at this time it seems Neve Campbell isn’t in the film. With Wes still on 25/8, and the script still in the works, ghostface is a far future movie, but hopefully it will get made.
Geeks of Doom has the scoop (go read the whole thing!):
…here’s a little more information on Scream 4 and the proposed trilogy that it may be the start of. Writer Kevin Williamson was out talking about his new show, The Vampire Diaries (which has a challenge in front of it, coming out in an already vampire overloaded time period and also being one of the shows that knocked off the fantastic Reaper), and ended up talking quite a bit about the newest chapter in the Scream franchise.Williamson got back into the fact that it was really exciting to know that David Arquette and Courteney Cox were coming back and that their story ten years after the events of the first trilogy would be the “heart and soul” of the new movies. He also revealed that the Ghostface mask would be back, but that it might be “another one,” whatever that might mean. Speaking of picking up the story a decade later, there was even mention of the wonderful Stab movies — the horror movie within the movies that basically parodies Scream — and how absurd that franchise would be.
When asked where the project stands and what the chances are that director Wes Craven would return, Williamson had this to say:
Well, I’m going to finish the script in the next couple of months. Then we’ll just start the process. Wes [Craven] wants to read a script before he’ll sign on, which makes sense. We’ve sort of chatted about it. I’m sure he would love to get back in the saddle. We’re kind of a family. We’re a Scream family that still exists, so the idea that we wouldn’t have dad sitting at the head of the table doesn’t make sense, so I’m going to try to. We’re going to make that happen….
They are apparently OFFERING ROLES already???
…(AnnaLynn McCord) has been offered a role in the upcoming sequel to the Scream Trilogy Scream 4….
