SUPERNATURAL HAS WEEKLY GROWTH IN ADULTS 18-34

October 2, 2009 (Burbank, CA) – The CW’s freshman hit THE VAMPIRE DIARIES continued to draw viewer blood in its third outing, showing week-to-week growth in the network’s key demographic of women 18-34 and resilient strength in other key demos and total viewers, according to preliminary live plus same day Nielsen ratings for October 1, 2009.

The “Family Ties” episode of TVD, which had absolutely nothing to do with Alex P. Keaton and  featured vampire brother Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) making easily the greatest catch of a football in human history, scored a 2.7/8 in The CW’s target demo, women 18-34, representing a 4% increase over last week’s outing.  That rating gave the show a second place ranking in the time period, behind only ABC.

VAMPIRE DIARIES continued to cast a spell on viewers in a number of key ratings measurements, with flat week to week performances in adults 18-34 (1.8/6) and women 18-49 (2.3/3). TVD also mesmerized female teens with a 2.5/10, winning a first place finish in the influential demo. Additionally, TVD was seen by 3.52M total viewers.

SUPERNATURAL had another solid performance with “The End” episode—which does NOT represent “the end,” SUPERNATURAL fans—improving 8% over last week in adults 18-34 (1.3/4) while holding steady in women 18-34 (1.5/4) and adults 18-49 (1.2/3) and women 18-49 (1.4.3).

For the night, The CW’s new Thursday lineup showed weekly gains of 5% in women 18-34 (2.1/6) and 7% in adults 18-34 (1.6/5).
