‘Key Largo’ in the WH press room ~ Big Dawg takes the podium

There was only 1 President at that lecturn yesterday and it showed.

Hint~ he didn’t ‘rush off’ to take his wife to a party, he stayed for 30 minutes of questions about taxes, the economy and Foreign Policy.

He didn’t act like he weas doing us a favor when he was POTUS and he still doesn’t. He is really passionate about what he thinks the country needs.

The other guy left for a party.

I turned on the TV and thought I was having a flashback or dreaming, there was Big Dawg passionately engaging the press on the US economy and what we need. He supports PAYROLL TAX CUTS as the best form of tax cuts to boost the economy. Thank you Bill.

Obama looked like the empty suit he is, just standing there, totally ineffectual as per usual.

We saw who the Great Communicator POTUS of our generation was/is, and his name is William Jefferson Clinton. As Krauthammer said, whoever suggested Bill take the podium is now no doubt off at their new assignment in the gulag.

Only someone as arrogant and narcissitic as Obama could possibly think it would be a good idea to bring out the Big Dawg into the press room to remind the American people of what a REAL DEMOCRATIC POTUS, a REAL CARING POTUS, an actual economically literate POTUS is like in that setting.

Bill rattled off all the information, EXTEMPORANEOUSLY, sans notes or TOTUS of course, totally engaging with the press. The sound of his ring thumping against the lecturn as he spoke brought back memories.

Sniff. I miss Bill.

We had it all baby, just like Bogey and Bacall…..

Big Dawg recovering from cardiac stent placement

Update 2: The Big Dawg looked and sounded great in a clip post release. WSJ. Said he could feel the energy when the artery was cleared post stent. I miss the Big Dawg. Nothing new,. What is new is Dubyah makes me get a fond smile now. Yep. Some sort of karma that ultimately Obama’s series of failures will do much to revitalize the positive view of the POTUSship of WJC which Obama tried to rip to shreds during his campaign.

Even now Obama cannot bring himself to say that PAYGO led to a surplus and balanced budget during the ‘Clinton Administration. At his improptu presser this week, he said, ‘during the 90s’. And Reid referred to Teh One as ‘Obama’ during his presser announcing he slashed the jobs bill. That is the first time I have seen Harry refer to him as anything but ‘President’ Obama. A little thing but indicative of how far off the rose that bloom has gone..

Moderate Dems rule and neoprogs drool!

Update: Big Dawg released and seems in good spirits.

Update: Video: Full House: a Royal Flush…aww Big Dawg, G.H.W. Bush, Dubyah and PEBO at Oval…

Courtesy of topnewsmakers

Update: ABC covers the meeting:

“I think [what] we all share is that we want you to succeed. Whether we’re Democrat or Republican, we care deeply about this country. And to the extent we can, we look forward to sharing our experiences with you,” President Bush said.

“All of us who have served in this office understand that the office itself transcends the individual — and we wish you all the very best,” the outgoing president said.

Obama met with Bush for half an hour before sitting down with former presidents Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton, without any staff present.

It makes me tear up it really does, and I am not a fan of several of these men. Awww, I love America. God Bless America and our leaders, who, regardless of our opinions of their views or policies, surely we agree these men have always, always done what they felt in their hearts would keep America and her people safe.

Bon Jovi fundraiser for Hillary 1/15 to Retire the Debt…Don’t miss this if you are in NY!!!

Update: MiM will be there!!! Right On!!!!!! We are flying in for this event!!

From the Sun-Times:

The Jan. 15 performance at Manhattan’s Town Hall is being billed as “a final evening in support of Hillary Clinton for President Debt Relief.” Ticket prices range from $75 to $1,000.

Hillary has already written off the 15 million she loaned to her campaign, and once she is sworn in as SoS, she will be unable to raise further funds..thanks Jon!!!!

The musician is performing at a fundraiser for the former presidential candidate as she tries to close out her campaign debt, which stood at $6.3 million as of last month.

More on the venue from the Daily News:

The hunky rock star will headline the cash bash at Town Hall in midtown Manhattan just five days before Barack Obama becomes President. Clinton is expected to be confirmed as secretary of state soon afterward.

Former President Bill Clinton also is set to attend the event titled “Thank you, Hillary: A Salute to Hillary Clinton,” which is billed on the invitation as a “final evening” in support of Clinton’s presidential campaign debt relief.

Tickets for the event with Bon Jovi range from $75 to $1,000. The top-dollar ticket comes with a VIP orchestra seat and a photo opportunity with Clinton.

Town Hall holds more than 1,400 people.

While maxed-out donors – people who have already contributed $2,300 to Clinton – may not contribute again, they can attend the event if they recruit two or more people at a certain seating level, according to the invitation.

The venue is particularly meaningful because it was founded by suffragettes, who won women the right to vote.

Hillary SoS official: 10:40 am EST; HRC and Gates

Obama Clinton Ohio

UPDATE 2: Excellent piece here by Politico, on HRC and Gates’ views based on an exchange b/w the two in 2006 confirmation hearings for Gates, a MUST READ..

Clinton: “Let me ask you, Dr. Gates, that in an oral history of the ’92 Gulf War produced by the PBS program ‘Frontline,’ you made some very definite points about how the military often overstates or even in your words, “’exaggerate the level of forces required to accomplish a specific objective.’ I’m concerned that’s precisely the attitude that we’ve heard from Secretary [Donald] Rumsfeld, former Deputy Secretary [Paul] Wolfowitz and others with regard to former Army Chief of Staff] Gen. [Eric] Shinseki’s recommendation and many in the uniformed military and civilian experts, who have consistently beat the drum that we don’t have enough troops, we never had enough troops.

“So therefore, how will you take that set of recommendations from your uniformed military on board and figure out how you’re going to assess it, given your previously stated position that it’s often exaggerated when we look at missions to accomplish?”
