Horror: Joss Whedon’s Cabin in the Woods; another teaser poster…

Our previous posts on the film and Joss here

See SlashFilm.com for more Cabin tidbits..

When Kevin Williamson’s Scream first hit, the ripples pulsed quickly through the slasher genre and rapidly redefined the audience’s expectations of boogeymen in creepy masks and their cinematic slaughter sprees. It was a pioneering work and one of the genuinely visionary films of the 90s. The idea with Cabin in the Woods is, I think, to do something similar. The means, however, are not as simple and definitely not as fresh.

The film will begin with the “white collar” characters we’ve already had casting for – Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford as Sitterson and Hadley (though they aren’t necessarily taking the roles in that order – there are still some secrets to unlock). It then cross cuts between these two and a group of five college-agers headed up to a cabin for the typical cabin based shenanigans. A cabin, somewhat unsurprisingly, in a wooded area….

Read the whole thing, but BEWARE OF SPOILERS!!! They only had the first 30 pgs of script so NO ONE really knows what’s what in the film 🙂

According to Fox’s press site the first episode of season 2 will be entitled “Vows”.  Jamie Bamber (Battlestar Galactica) plays a wealthy financier who decides he wants to get married, and Echo is the lucky girl.

The honeymoon is soon over when Agent Ballard comes in to warn Echo of danger and she doesn’t recognize him. Fighting starts and Ballard tries to make Echo remember to save her life….

More from Jeremy Beyer at the Examiner:

Cabin in the Woods is “The horror movie to end all horror movies” according to writer Joss Whedon. Written by Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard (Cloverfield) who also directs, it is part horror movie, part reality TV, and part comedy.

The basic premise of the movie is the standard “group of teenagers go into the woods to party” formula. Unbeknownst (sp) to them they are being manipulated by a pair of white collar business men who have their own agenda….

Joss Whedon on Dollhouse Season 2: BSG’s Jamie Bamber to guest star; dish on Cabin in the Woods…

From this week’s Entertainment Weekly, highlights via DVRPlayground:

…We’re trying to do something that’s much more cinematic and visceral and really live inside the story,” he says in previewing the new season, which debuts September 24 at 9PM on FOX (Global in Canada). “This season, I’ve really ratcheted up the way I work. We’re shooting in HD, so we’re able to move faster, do more, and make the second season more like the latter half of the first season.”In other-words, “Epitaph One’ is just the beginning. “The insane unaired thirteenth episode will inform what we do the whole season. It really helped give us a direction and understanding of what we want from the actors, and what we think the audience wants to see from this ensemble.”

Epitaph 1, is the 13th episode only available on iTunes or on the DVD set…OR!! It is also available for $1.99 on Amazon Video on Demand gonna go watch it now the damn clips got me hooked….

Direction? Understanding? Yes, yes, that’s great and all but how about some answers dammit!

Not surprisingly, Whedon is somewhat tight-lipped when it comes to how in fact himself and his merry band of writers are going to live up to the ridiculously cool post-apocolyptic future that was painted in “Epitatph One.” But did offer, at a DOLLHOUSE set visit during the recent Television Critics Association Press Tour that the series will pick up exactly three months after the events of last May’s season finale, fans can expect more three-dimensional dolls and  ” best of all” a special guest appearance by BATTLESTAR GALACTICA’s Jamie Bamber.

Mrs MiM here, did someone say Jamie Bamber?

jamiebamber

Who won’t be the only familiar face this season. “Last year I had to be careful that it didn’t seem the show was a party for my friends,” explained Whedon, who ultimately changed his tune after a weekend spent at San Diego’s Comic Con, realizing that, yeah, it sort of is a party for his friends (see: Felicia Day, who will be back in the second season premiere) “Ultimately it also saves time if you have someone you know who can get the job done.”

So does that mean CASTLE star Nathan Fillion should be waiting by his phone? “I’m trying to sabotage the show, it’s not working, but I’m trying.”…

Mrs MiM again. Nathan? Mal? Did someone say something about Captain Mal?
